After several real world interruptions, here is another release. While there have been releases between each release, many of them ended up less stable than Beta 278, so I did not post about it.
This build includes many behind-the-scenes changes compared to Beta 278:
- All individual features are now split into smaller parts, and have been migrated to a load-time resolving approach. This approach allows me to add or remove features at will, without risking that I might have forgotten some code somewhere, and then having a release crash on some platforms or systems.
- A number of internal functionality was fixed, and now actually does what it should have, instead of only pretending to do what it claims to do.
- The Windows installer will no longer continue with the installation if the removal of the older version fails. This addresses a problem where users would attempt to install/update StreamFX while it is still loaded in an OBS Studio instance, thus corrupting their installation permanently.
- StreamFX's "Current User" installation now ends up in C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Programs\Common\obs-studio, thus being more in-line with what is expected behavior by Microsoft.
- Added GoPro CineForm to the supported FFmpeg encoders.
- User @vantabord on Discord submitted an OpenGL fix to the shared.effect file, which should make some effects work on Linux and MacOS that previously didn't work.
- FFmpeg's NVENC HEVC no longer saves the Profile Level as H264.Level, and instead uses H265.Level.
- Fixed various NVIDIA Maxine effects not working on RTX 4000 Series GPUs.
- Fixed some filters incorrectly checking if another filter had the provider, instead of checking if itself had the provider.
Also in accordance with what OBS Studio is planning, this version drops support for Qt5 and Ubuntu 20.04 entirely. Please update to Ubuntu 22.04 or later.
