Old Artwork- The Parents (Patreon)

Happy Wednesday!

Still on my small break, feeling better each new day. Working on character description cards, it occurred to me how little I've shared of Murphy & Mitzi's parents, so here their very first sketches, as well as some comparisons of their "final" designs.  I always had an idea of what I wanted their professions to be, but their designs ended up changing quite a bit.

I ended up making Mitzi's mom a bit shorter and chubbier in her finalized look. I think it suits her more, and makes her a bit cuter and mom-ish. She's actually my favorite of them all.

Murphy's mom still has the same attitude and overall look, but she changed in a bunch of small ways when I finalized her. She's somehow always been difficult to nail down in terms of design, I don't know why. She's definitely gotten the biggest glow-up.

Mitzi's dad has not changed at all. Even since the sketch phase. But that's probably because of how little I've gotten to use him. I did do some other rough sketches for him after this first one, but none of them were ever as good.

Murphy's dad was a little difficult to design. At first I was trying to design a very strict and serious guy, but felt like Murphy's dad should be much more relaxed and mellow to better suit his parents' carefree attitude towards their son's misadventures. In the end, his final design actually hasn't changed much at all from when I first published it.

It just goes to show that I'll never be done making small changes to even the side characters. Oh well.
