CRASH!
CRAASH!
CRAAASH!
“Shit! Why is this not breaking?!”
It had already been another ten minutes since they found the entrance, and the Vampires had yet to even open it. They had tried with their magic and weapons, but an invisible barrier of light would block all their blows with ease.
Each time they hit it with a weapon, a spark of holy light would emerge, temporarily blinding them and sometimes burning their skin very painfully, making them even more pissed off.
“Did that Celestial brat leave this behind?!”
“She didn’t even seem that strong! How come she can create such an intricate Magic Array!”
“Countess Blednica said she wasn’t even a true Celestial, but an offshoot, what we call a Nephilim. It’s impossible for such a lowly being to be able to create this.”
“Did she use some sort of special artifact, perhaps?”
“It is a Sealing Array that not only sealed this door but also most of the surrounding area that leads to the entrance! We can’t even brute force this even if we wanted…”
“Tch! Keep hitting it!” Said their General. “Our Crimson Swords have been forged using the Souls and Blood of these pathetic livestock, blessed by our almighty Countess; they have the power to negate some magic to an extent; as long as we keep hitting the seal, it will eventually shatter.”
The other Blood Knights couldn’t refute their General’s orders, instantly resuming their attack as their swords continued striking the seal countless times, clashing sounds and sparks of light continued being released.
CLASH!
CLAASH!
CLAAASH!
Crack!
And after another minute, a sudden crack appeared within the Sealing Array! The Blood Knights all smiled at the sight of this crack as their strikes started hitting harder and harder.
Crack, crack… CRACK!
Glass-like pieces made of magic began falling off the transparent Magical Array, slowly beginning to fall apart! Their strikes continued hitting, becoming faster the more they thought about feasting on the blood of innocents.
After all, the blood of weak, innocent livestock that screamed and withered as they died was the tastiest, filled with delicious, sweet adrenaline that got Vampires really high, a very addictive food that they could not stop drinking until their victims' corpses were left dried like mummies.
Victims that were left dried out of their blood and survived would eventually morph into Blood Thralls, whom Vampires can mind control naturally; they would then later be freed into the wild to further terrorize the "livestock," so they wouldn’t ever dare to escape.
CRASH!
CRAASH!
CRAAASH!
Crack, crack... CRASH!
The cracks kept spreading further and further, and the Sealing Array was about to collapse! The Vampires started to laugh now without saying another word other than fantasizing about what they would do to this prey, which made them so hard to catch!
The people underground trembled in fear, having already escaped to the deepest parts yet still capable of hearing their wicked laughter as they constantly tried to break through Anna’s magic.
“Big sis!” Isaac cried. “Where are you going?! It’s dangerous!”
Inferna had already equipped a set of black armor that her father had left behind for her while holding onto a black spear, also belonging to her father.
“I am the strongest in this village… T-The very least I can do is fight them and protect you!” Inferna gritted her teeth, her hands and legs trembling. “If they break through Anna’s magic... I’ll distract them; all of you must find a way out! In the worst possible scenario, escape into the sewer’s waters; you’ll find a way out of the village through the river!”
“B-But big sis!”
“Inferna…!”
“Y-You can’t just do that…”
“SHUT UP!” Inferna roared angrily. “Do as I say you stupid idiots!”
RUMBLE!
Suddenly, a tremor made everyone paralyzed; the sound of a magical array being destroyed resonated over the surface, shaking the ceiling above the refugees.
The Vampires finished laughing as they stepped back, covering their eyes as the last blinding light emerged from the Sealing Array before completely being destroyed.
“Fufufu, it’s done…”
“Now, let’s get in!”
“I’m so thirsty! I haven’t had blood in a long while!”
“General, open the door!”
“Very well.” The General stepped in, his sword beginning to overflow with Demonic Energy and Blood Energy as he aimed at the stone door with all his might.
“Knock, knock~!”
CRASH!!!
An enormous explosion of demonic energy impacted the stone door, and a huge quantity of smoke spread out everywhere as the Blood Knights glanced at the dissipating smoke, only to find a flashing light coming from within.
A second before, and without realizing it, a winged angel-like girl had descended from above, leaping over three hundred meters from where she was all the way here.
Her divine sword glowed brightly, having blocked the sword’s attack, but the shockwave alone ended up shattering the stone door anyway.
“Hey, I almost didn’t make it.”
“Huh?!”
The six Blood Knights were left speechless as they saw the figure of Anna herself emerging from within the smoke, her much smaller body compared to theirs easily blocking the powerful attack from their general.
“She’s here?!”
“Gryaaah! My eyes!”
“Again with that blinding light?!”
The Vampires hissed angrily, stepping back in fear against the divine light coming from Gram while being in his {Celestial Mode}, which Anna had left activated since she arrived here.
After all, Holy Light and Celestial Energy were the best match against Demons, and especially Vampires, who were even weaker against these elements due to their {Blood Curse}, the source of their powers, and also their great weaknesses!
“Let’s do this.”
.
.
.
(Anna’s POV)
Hearing the clashing sounds of swords trying to strike down my Sealing Array, I moved as fast as possible, activating my Seraphin Wings from one of my accessories to fly as fast as possible, leaping all the way from where I was to the village.
FLASH!
Like a flashing meteor, I reached the ground. Seconds before the Blood Knight General was to strike the stone door into pieces, I blocked his attack with Gram, using most of my Ki to reinforce my muscles through my Physique.
CLASH!
The result? The Blood Knights were left speechless, at the same time as the blinding light of Sunshine combined with Gram’s {Celestial Mode} burned their eyes and skin, making them cower in agony while stepping back, hissing like angered snakes.
“She’s here?!”
“Gryaaah! My eyes!”
“Again with that blinding light?!”
[“Wow, look at them shriek like rats! Are these really knights?”]
“I told you that these guys were just the lowest of the low; I don’t need to have any mercy against Vampires that prey on innocent lives.”
[“You’re such a righteous girl! You make me proud to have chosen you as my wielder!”]
“Wow, for the first time you’re not being ironic, you iron stick?”
[“Watch your words, you damn brat! I was just surprised by how easily you take other lives… Isn’t it weird? You were just a normal girl before! Were you always a psychopath or something?”]
His words did strike me as the truth, though. I’ve become abnormally used to taking lives now, more than I would have ever wanted. Is this my pragmatic mind as a reader mixing with my own self?
Well, I might as well embrace this side of mine because what I’m doing is what’s necessary; if I were cowering in fear, vomiting, and crying every time I kill an asshole, I wouldn’t be fit for this kind of world.
Quite honestly, I hate those kinds of naïve characters the most.
“Enough banter, let’s do this.”
Without any other thoughts clouding my judgment, I stepped forward. Things such as morality were of little use on the battlefield, where I was trying to protect innocent lives.
Sometimes, just being merciful is not enough; bastards will always be bastards, no matter how much you think they’ll get better.
It’s always better to cut them down before they become even worse problems in the future.
“{Demon-Sealing Celestial Chains}!”
FLASH!
“W-What?!”
In a split second, the whole body of the Blood Knight General was wrapped in chains made of light, a spell I had used before and was getting rather good at using now.
It was specially designed to deal with demon-type foes; other foes might not even be affected by it. But its power lay within its specialization, of course.
[You have used the {Demon-Sealing Celestial Chains} on your foe! As a Demon, he will be restrained for a small amount of time!]
[Additionally, all his stats have dropped by -20%!]
“C-Chains? What are you-”
“{Sunlit Arc}!”
Without even waiting a single second, I spun in midair and swung Gram with all my strength; the sword pierced through the Blood Knight’s crimson armor and sliced right through his neck, which could easily tank most physical blows but felt like butter against a warm knife when it came to a Divine, Holy Light-enchanted sword.
SLAAASH!
“Gruuaaarrggh…!”
[You have slain [Blood Knight General: Hernan (A+ Rank)] x1!]
[You earned 250.000 EXP.]
[Level up!]
As his head flew into the air, an enormous shockwave of holy light and flames emerged, as I combined both the Sunlit Arc’s shockwave with my Dragon Tooth Dagger’s flames, spreading a strong Area-of-Effect fire and holy light attack to put the other Blood Knights in disarray and confusion.
They were too many for me to handle without using every trick I could manage. If they were to gang on me together, I would get impaled to death with ease.
“S-She killed the General?!”
“Uuarrgh! The fire is too hot!”
“The light and the fire…! It burns!”
“S-Shit! Step back! Our barriers! Set them up!”
Despite being agonizingly burned, the Vampires kept a bit of their composure as red-colored rings shone brightly and suddenly generated bubble-like barriers made out of Blood Energy and Darkness.
How amusing! They have quite an interesting gadget. I’m sure Hilda would like to check that out later. I might make a pretty penny selling those off to her too.
Sadly for them...
“{Sunshine}!”
FLASH!
A shockwave of holy light through Sunshine was enough to destroy their barrier, as I leaped directly towards the magician in front of me and pointed Gram into his neck!
“G-Get away from me!”
With a desperate scream, he pointed his spear at me, unleashing a beam of red energy, which I easily evaded through my firm foothold and fast movements, enchanted further by my equipment and Privileges.
BOOOM!
“Too slow.”
I lifted Gram right from below his chin, piercing his brain with it, and then slicing his head into two halves, finishing it off by swinging my sword horizontally to make sure I killed it. I wouldn’t want half his head to suddenly regenerate.
SLAAASH!
[You have slain [Blood Knight Magic Spearman: Seles (A+ Rank)] x1!]
[You earned 250.000 EXP.]
[Level up!]
Two gone, four more to go.
“She killed another?!”
“She’s really a Celestial!”
“Uuaaarrghh! My wounds!”
The last four screamed in panic. One of them suddenly started running away to hide somewhere and properly regenerate his wounds; two of them, the heavy knights, charged towards me with their shields, aiming to strike me down with a dual shield bash; and the fourth was standing in the back, conjuring several magic circles, preparing a huge spell.
“If you have any honor, confront us!”
“RAAAAH!”
The two Heavy Knights tried to bait me into fighting them so their magician could prepare a powerful enough nuke, but magicians are the most dangerous to leave alive on a battlefield. And I wouldn’t easily fall for their petty provocations.
I immediately leaped over their shields, ignoring them completely and aiming at the Magician, I gathered the power of Sunshine and combined it with the Great Sorceress and Sunlight Blade Skills, as five rotating blades of light materialized around my body.
“{Sunshine Blade Rain}”
FLASH! FLASH! FLASH!
The blades of light moved at lightning speed, hitting the magician’s magic circles, not his body, as I prioritized destroying his incantation before killing him. Vampires are quite durable, and I cannot bet it all on a light sword beheading him, not with my aim.
CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!
“M-My magic circles?!” The Blood Knight Magician muttered, his red eyes opening wide. “She aimed at them instead of my own life!”
He was amazed by my quick thinking but couldn’t praise me anymore as I launched both of my daggers into his neck. He blocked one with his staff, but the other reached his armor and pierced through its surface; it was the Holy Light-enchanted Frost Wolf Fang.
“Huh?!”
BOOOM!
The knife erupted with frost and holy light, instantly freezing half the vampire’s body, giving me the time to slice him into three halves as I descended.
“{Twin Slashing Sunlight Blade}!”
SLASH! SLASH!
His body fell into pieces as I sliced him into three halves—no longer a Vampire but just a bunch of red ice scattered like crystal snow. The smell of blood permeated the air, and my senses heightened as I gained another level.
[You have slain [Blood Knight Magician: Jaren (A+ Rank)] x1!]
[You earned 250.000 EXP.]
[Level up!]
Three more to go.
