Love and Quills 2: extras and outtakes (Patreon)

So, throughout the whole process of creating the comic I had to redo and start from scratch a lot of things. Especially I remember having a lot of problems with Sonic's face. A lot of times I had to fight against him looking too cute or just straight up weird. Shadow, as you can see, was only rolling towards being too damn cute, so it was not as challenging, especially when at one point I finally realised what to do with him. But Sonic.... I'm still not sure about some faces tbh :D

Some stuff you see there never made it's way into the comic, poses and even some story stuff. Even though I had a script ready when sketching all that, I would get new ideas and deviate slightly from what was intended originally. Still in the process of sketching, I would even come back to a scene and shove a page or two in it because it felt like going too fast. And, when I was inking and shading, upon getting to the bedroom scene I just.... remade from scratch about 40% of it because I didn't like it any more :D It was giving me weird feels even when I was sketching it. 

This part in particular felt like a pace breaker (and mood ruiner) so it's now gone almost entirely. 

A lot of starting from scratch was also the cause of the scene looking too stale. It would always be the same angle, functional, but not interesting. When I got to it during inking I was willing to spend more time than I hoped to, I wanted to fix that. I hope it worked. At least I know that I like the final result more than my first version sketches, heheh ^^

The making of the comic took me an entire year because I had to juggle it along side commissions to make a living and my weekly art. I'm not repeating that ever again. When you look at a project for this long your vision becomes blurred and you start disliking it even when it is not bad. When starting my next comic I'll be making sure it's not taking me more than a couple of months. 

I'm not planning to make anything as big in the nearest future. I do have plans for a couple of smaller simpler projects, animation groups and comics. After I'm done with that, though~ Oh boy, I've been writing something really BIG for some time now. By the time I'm done with the smaller things I should have the script finally ready. I want this to be good. I want everything to make sense in it. I'm sooooo looking forward to start the actual work on it >wwwwwwww<
