Just an update on how the model is coming along! I have a lot of the colouring/texturing/shading done on her, and the "base" rigging done, which means all her bits move at least, but lots of cleanup and corrective work is still needed which is why she's got puffy shoulders and her facial expression is lacking other weirdness is happening. Just haven't gotten to those yet!

I'm still iffy on the scale texture in a few places as well... mainly on the face, though I'm having second thoughts about the extremeties as well. For the face I've experimented with both big and small scales, combinations of both and everything in between but I just can't find something that really sits well with me. All of her 2D art has been done without any noticeable scale texture which kind of leaves her scale pattern up to the imagination of the viewer, but you can't really get away with sweeping detail like that under the rug in 3D. If I tried no scale texture she'd look like she's made of rubber, which is making replicating the feeling of her 2D counterpart to be a bit tricky. I'm trying though!

Currently it's just a ton of really fine scales and I find that gives the least offensive result, but it does look kinda... "fleshy" due to her pink colour, which is a little off-putting. I dunno, I'll keep messing with it.

Anyway, just a lil' update since we've hit another decent model milestone with her being mostly coloured and mostly rigged. Whatdya think so far?

Well she sure looks lovely! I almost would've prefered her in the last animation if she had been available for it. Very pretty :9

ruaidri

Aw, thanks! :D Yeah, she would have been pretty good for the role too. Would be interesting to see her actually walking around in her museum like that! It was real nice to get to actually animate something with the 'jay though. A lot of people were very happy to see her. :P

Jykinturah

This is incredible, maybe I should submit a request for that Dec animation...

I have no complaints about how she looks. If you really want to nit-pick, there is some minor texture stretching on her right shoulder, but overall she's pretty fantastic. You make this look too easy :P

ruaidri

That will be slightly resolved when I finish up the rigging, but I'm not sure it'll ever go away completely, I haven't quite perfected the mechanics of the shoulder yet. :P Thanks though! Happy to hear she's mostly looking alright. :D

Your models are becoming almost pixar-esque quality. Incredibly impressive

Oh, I wouldn't say that, I've got a long way to go before I get there. But the comment is still very much appreciated! :P Thanks man!
