This is basically just becoming a daily blog on how much I've gotten done. Here's where we're at today! A lot of today just went into fixing up and finishing up the rigging. Like most things, 90% of the work takes 10% of the time, and then that last 10% takes 90% of the time... but he's basically done, rigging wise, barring a few tweaks. I'm not super pleased with how that smile looks, for example...

In other news, I'm starting to do some texturing work, and he's finally starting to look not creepy! A little shading goes a long way. I also made his eyes less demony and more normal to test it out, and suddenly he looks very... cartoony? I have to admit I'm not sure how I feel about his general head shape. When I started this I was really into it, but I think something got lost along the way. I might end up reworking it a bit down the road, maybe after I get his fluff on and can really see what it'll look like, but I'll be honest, this cartoonish take is kind of amusing me. To me in his current form he almost looks like something you'd see in a videogame of some sort... minus the giant wolf bits front and centre of course.

Still lots left to do, and everything is still up for change, but I hope this day by day look is mildly entertaining at least!

Almost seems blue-balled.

Tickledlion

I'm loving seeing the progression ^^

Well, they are being lit almost entirely by blue light right now, so in a manner of speaking...

Ah, that's great to hear! I'm glad you're enjoying it, thanks. :D

Direkitsune

Looks really good! I love his build, and that slight suave look to his stance

JellyDonut

He looks really good! Great work.

I think the cartoony look is because of the chest to waist ratio. But he is looking very good! "10% takes 90% of the time", as they say: it's all in the details XD

ruaidri

That definitely contributes to it, for sure. I kinda like it though. I think, anyway! It'll be hard to say for sure until he gets his fluff on.

A little late on giving feedback here, but he looks a lot more proportionally balanced now than just as the T-pose! I can see how the head/face/eye shapes look a bit wonky to you and not quite what you envisioned, but they still look great from an objective viewer's standpoint, so don't kick yourself! He looks very handsome as-is :3 Again, I love that you're finding your animation/model making style, so to speak. Your first characters were great in their own right, but compared to what you've been making recently, there's been so obvious refinement as to how they look in terms of an overarching style. Keep chipping away at it and I'm sure you're going to end up at a place that not only looks good to your fans, but also to you! Can't wait to see what animations this smirky boy is gonna get into!

DAS!

Absolute lad!

Well I'm happy to hear he's looking alright from the outside! It can be a bit hard to have real perspective on how things are going when you spend all day fiddling with the little details, so it's good to know I'm on a decent path. :P Thanks man! I've still got a ton to learn and improve on when it comes to 3D, but I definitely feel like I've come a long way since some of those earlier models. There are definitely a few in need of remakes at some point. We haven't seen any Gale for a while because that model is so rough compared to what I could do now, I'd rather just remake him before using him again, hah. Which, while annoying, is a good sign at least I like to think!
