Please send help, I can't stop making new things.
Actually I have a few good excuses. I have several things I want to experiment with in a way I can't easily do with existing models, and I also wanted to build a brand new rig to use going forward. That's a pretty time consuming endeavour that I didn't want to do when on a commissioner's time, so I figured it was best done on my own. In terms of capabilities, the new rig can't do much more than the old one could, (though there are a few neat tricks like being able to do head-tracking as well as manual head movement) but it's much cleaner and tidier. The old one had a lot of baggage due to being built when I had no idea what I was doing, and also due to transferring the rig over and changing it to suit each new model as I make them, so weirdness built up over time. Things like bones that are somehow both unnecessary to the rig but also break everything when you get rid of them, animation "actions" tied to bones that don't exist anymore so I can't get rid of the action, and just general messiness which comes with making a copy of a copy, slightly tweaking it each time.
Suffice to say, being built brand new from the ground up, the new rig is much tidier and should be much nicer to use in the future. So the rig, at least, is a success. Haven't gotten to the stage yet where I can try out the other stuff I want to test, so we'll see how that goes in the coming days...
Also just had an urge to make a koboldy-kind-of-thing, I guess? I like lizards, what can I say. As usual when posting at this stage of completion, there's lots of weirdness that still needs sorting out, so you'll have to excuse that, it should all hopefully be sorted out by the final version. But it can move around and the facial expressions are working surprisingly well, so that's nice!
Anyway, yeah, definitely send help.
