I suppose this picture couldn't have any other title, could it?

May as well admit it up front, this isn't my strongest painting ever. The three-colour three-direction lighting I chose was a tough thing to nail down and it definitely threw me for a bit of a loop, and the setting I chose accidentally gives the picture a real dark undertone that I didn't really want, just didn't think about until it was too late because I'm a derp, heh.

So this one's a bit rough, but I hope y'all get some enjoyment out of it despite the issues!

Eh, he's just out in the unfinished garage so he doesn't get the carpet sticky (or maybe carpet inhibits portal placement) -- makes sense to me

Man, you went for some really difficult lighting here! And I think you pulled it off really well, so don't beat yourself up about it too much! Yes, it's not perfect, but is that ever really the goal? I would rather see you challenging yourself and progressing as an artist over sticking to what you have mastered already and never evolving. Three separate light sources of completely different colors and directions on an anatomical character in watercolors? That's some seriously difficult stuff! The character himself looks amazing! You've definitely been refining your equines as the years have progressed. I love how the hair of his tail and mane have a bit of a geometric aesthetic to them, it suits your style really well! It still feels a bit off with how he's being seen through the blue portal, but honestly it's probably just down to my mind trying to figure out what two different gravitational directions should look like. Colliding perspectives, lines and gravity directions like that is a mind-melter, and I'm having a hard time just wrapping my head around it from a viewer perspective, I think you did a great job rendering it from an artist's view! I wouldn't worry about the background/setting too much. Hindsight is always 20/20! I personally think it looks just fine :) There were almost limitless options to go for with the suggestion, and I think the one you finalized here was a great choice. Tackling difficult work may not always turn out exactly how we want, but I think it's a beautiful and necessary thing for us to grow. Sometime in the future you'll remember something you learned from working on this piece and be able to use some random, seemingly useless bit of experience to better your work! All that said, I'm still -really- enjoying the atmosphere and vibe it gives off. So much color radiating from all the different angles. Thank you for trying something so difficult, and all things considered it turned out great!

Dude, you are too good to me with these comments. :P Well as always I'm super glad ya like it! It's definitely wonky as a result of the trickiness so it's not my favourite thing I've ever done, but my main goal is always to make stuff that other people will like so I can certainly live with it. x3 So yeah, thanks man!

Unfortunately since my work is done traditionally I can't really change at this point. Some equine deepthroating a good idea to keep in mind for a future picture maybe, though!
