So because of the weapon durability system, I just now found out that monster parts can be fused with weapons. I never even considered trying to fuse them to weapons because weapons seem to me to be completely disposable. I might now try to fuse things together, but the durability still makes me feel like not bothering.

Fusing resets the durability and fused weapons have higher durability. Once you get fuse, you basically start throwing away weapons 'cause you can always make more. If you're traveling by vehicle, you can glue spare parts to the vehicle in case you need them later. It all resets on reload, anyway.
