The tech industry is seeing massive layoffs, with Microsoft alone jettisoning 10,000 people in the face of slow growth. The key word there is "growth." Microsoft isn't losing money, but people are losing jobs because it ain't making money fast enough. This is supposed to be reasonable

It's high time the nonsensical lie corporations operate under was challenged openly.

Even smaller tech companies are doing layoffs. My employer just laid off a bunch of people despite doing fine financially, despite hiring and promoting like normal. The reasoning they gave was "to continue operating as normal". To quote George Carlin, it's all bullshit and it's bad for ya.

I think this was one of your best and most insightful episodes. Thank you!

potato potato also another potato

I'm reminded of my employer reporting a 40% loss last year as the 3 year covid sales surge (grocery store) wound down. Turns out we suffered nothing of the sort, we had a 40% decline in GROWTH. Which is entirely different...even so, they used that misunderstanding to deny raises and cut hours, no layoffs, but we also have nobody left to layoff.
