Dark Souls III is out now in Japan, but the rest of the world has to wait until April 12... unless they get the full English version from Japan's Xbox Live store.

It's a silly situation, and Dark Souls is not a series that benefits from staggered releases at all. Let's look at this whole bollocky shitstorm.

One thing I wonder is how this affects DLC and the perception of Launch Day DLC. Rise of the Tomb Raider had staggered release dates, as well, and released on PC with $30 of DLC available, making it Launch Day DLC. The staggered release pattern may, in fact, be a new way of them shoving Launch Day DLC at us, without our noticing and calling them out on it. :/ If Dark Souls 3 has DLC available on April 12 that costs extra, then it would certainly help indicate that this is the case.

As always, wonderful stuff, Jim! Thank god for you. <3

Luckily From spends several months developing the DLC for their games (So far at least, I hope that doesn't change). So we won't see any of that anytime soon. I do wonder if that could be the case for other games. We see day one DLC a lot, so I'm sure it's happened in some case.
