Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 has become one of my favorite games, and that should make me happy. I mean, it does... but it's sort of depressing.

When AAA games come out and give you everything you expect, it's a cause for celebration. That we DO celebrate when things do what they're supposed to is indicative of a problem.

But seriously, I really love that game about flowers and corpses.

I would not be surprised at all if they would introduce micro-transactions in this GW too. In fact i expect it. Perhaps in about two months from now, when initial sales have dropped and they seek additional revenue. Giving a game a number grade at the beginning seems so flawed now, however i would like a Very good, Good, Mediocre, Bad and Very bad simple grading system. Also seems much easier to change a few months after release, a number grade seem so final, calling a game mediocre after it was good would be easier it think. It would also change the whole "everything above an 8 is good and below you have failed" rating system we have now.

Is it really that much more rewarding than say, splatoon? Or does that get a negative check mark based on the lack of content on launch for the sticker price?

I don't think so since Splatoon used it to more as marketing and not as a micro-transaction racket. Also I think players who started later got everything unlocked to that point at the start because gating content wasn't the point of those features. That's the amiibo's job and (assuming they live up to the promise that one amiibo unlocks the same for every compatible game) that's where those features may stay, until they screw that up.
