Doom Eternal could easily have just served up more of what Doom 2016 did. Nobody would have complained. Instead, id Software gave this sequel an entirely new energy.

More intense and aggressive, Doom Eternal gives the player more tools to play with, and an increased pressure to use them. Coupled with the fluid environment traversal, the result is one heck of an engrossing game.

So yes, Doom Eternal is good. Now shut up while I play Animal Crossing.

I was foolish enough to order a physical cartridge for Animal crossing. Now I'm sat waiting till the 24th to start playing it

Huh, this was uploaded twice, and the original isn't available...

Unfortunately it's a huge skip from me. I'm on PC, and for some reason Bethesda are requiring an account to play it through Steam. I guess they learned their lesson about doing it to consoles from the Doom re-releases, but they're still doing it to PC players. Let's not even talk about (while actually talking about) them locking off extra modes in games unless you sign in, and doing that with existing games long after release. They locked off Mission+ in Dishonored 2 unless you give them your data, as well as locking off a difficulty mode in The Evil Within 2. They're just the ones I know about. Of course, the real advantage to Bethesda having your data isn't extra game modes, it's that they store your passwords in plain text and leak them if you contact support. Fuck Bethesda in all their various holes for ruining everything and holding your personal data hostage to do it.

Honestly, I don't understand the outrage with the Beth account. If you played anything from them recently you already has an account.

A copyright takedown forced Jim to re-upload the video and re-do the intro. Fortunately, Jim posted the original intro on Twitter: https://twitter.com/JimSterling/status/1241141694986366980?s=09

I don't though. And recently I've played Wolfenstein Youngblood and Rage 2, both of which have a significantly greater online aspect than Doom Eternal. This is the first Bethesda game that isn't entirely online that's demanded it. Prior to this it was just the carrot of extra features. Now it's the stick of you can't play it at all.
