Yes, a Terminator game happened a little while ago. Even more shockingly, it's quite good! I've been enjoying it, anyway. 

An FPS with a Fallout Lite template, Terminator: Resistance is made on a tight budget, but infused with a lot of love and respect for the source material. More love than the people making the films these days, at the very least.

Remember when they started showing trailers for "John Carter's Mars" but then they changed the name to "John Carter" because a movie called "Mars needs Moms" came out the year before and it was terrible, so the advertising executive decided including "Mars" in the title was bad publicity? Marketing departments are dumb.

I've always wondered why this style of RPG-lite FPS Terminator games has NOT been developed before now. I, too, have seen this in the Steam curator feature, but held off buying it because the visuals wasn't quite impressive. But, I may just have to pick this up. Thanks for the impression video!

This is also a fun game for people who are huge Terminator fans, as you can spot little references and such to the first two movies. The Diner where Sarah works, and the corpse of the human on whom they based the T-1000. I can definitely recommend, though Jim's criticisms are certainly accurate, and once you can kill the humanoid terminators easily the game does lose some of its magic.

A few hours into this one and I am loving it! I get the lukewarm reviews, though. I would say it's a mediocre video game, but an awesome Terminator game! Thanks for the recommendation.
