Yeah, that's right, you get TWO Jimquisitions this week! We can't not have a nice chat about old nemesis Konami, perhaps the most embarrassing major publisher in the so-called "AAA" space. This episode mostly retells the stunning tale of Konami's greatest failures, but adds in some "I told you so" sentiments for good measure. Also, we look at the famous blacklist I received for my original Konami video. Looking at it all, it's not surprising Konami seems to be alienating Hideo Kojima and canceled Silent Hills. Konami is, after all, Konami... and it's not like they can blacklist me twice!

Konami managed to screw up more than just Sillent Hill and Metal Gear, although not by remarkably kicking out just one person. They screw their games in a consistent basis nowadays. Castlevania went to shit with the Lord of Shadows thing. They pasted the Castlevania logo into a game that had nothing much to do with the series. Castlevania was about platform exploration games and kicking Dracula's ass. Now it's about boring emo protagonists, quicktime events, long corridors and cinematic filming during the fights that takes the controls from your hands all the time. Blegh. How can they spend so much money to make the game so beautiful and yet the game end up being so boring and grindy? They should close and then sell their IPs. Pretty sure anyone is better at making Konami games than Konami.

Out of curiosity, I found the Destructoid interview mentioned (<a href="http://www.destructoid.com/e3-silent-hill-book-of-memories-blown-open-part-1--226450.phtml" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.destructoid.com/e3-silent-hill-book-of-memories-blown-open-part-1--226450.phtml</a> and <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/e3-silent-hill-book-of-memories-blown-open-part-2--226453.phtml)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.destructoid.com/e3-silent-hill-book-of-memories-blown-open-part-2--226453.phtml)</a> which proved to be an interestong read. In the sidebar, there was an article which quoted this (<a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2012/10/12/why-all-the-delays-to-silent-hill-book-of-memories/)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.siliconera.com/2012/10/12/why-all-the-delays-to-silent-hill-book-of-memories/)</a> Siliconera interview which says that Book of Memories was delayed to coincide with Silent Hill: Revelation "because the first Silent Hill movie came out, and there weren’t any Silent Hill games near when it came out. And that’s kind of a bummer." Yes, that same Silent Hill movie that sucked.

"And I suppose I'm going to pre-order Metal Gear Solid V now because I'm sure as hell not getting a review copy" I just burst out laughing. Thank god for Jim. Love it.

Two in one week! I'm so spoiled. This one was particularly interesting, too. Didn't know most of it.

Thank you Jim!

Thanks Jim! And thanks Jim for Jim! We're getting spoiled rotten here with all these episodes. And holy ducks... Konami... is that what a board of investors are for? Hindering madness like that? If I hadn't heard it from you Jim, I would'nta believed it.

Thank you for the extra Jimquisition. It's really aggravating that it took people so long to realize how shitty Konami.

Thank you Jim! (We're here for you, James!)

Well I recall Jim's reaction to the Silent Hills affair during the podcast was basically "well yeah , that's Konami alright", So I assume he combined that subject with Konami's behavior in general to make one episode about both.

what happens if you review a friend's review copy.

Kinda reminds me of a flash video on Newgrounds back in 2004 called "Decline Of Video Gaming 2" They had a character for Konami that I think you'd agree, THAT'S KONAMI!

LifeIsStrange

I actually liked Neverdead and wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to it, too bad Konami will just ignore it.

I imagine their other divisions must be run with some sort of fiscal and PR intelligence, considering their success. I don't understand why they apparently let crazy people run their games division.
