2013's DmC Devil May Cry remains one of the most controversial reboots in all of videogames. Survivors of the DmC Wars still talk in hushed tones and reverence for the lives lost, but maybe the time has come to heal. Or maybe not. We'll see what happens when I argue for DmC's right to be counted among its peers. With the Definitive Edition out now, it's as good a time as any!

There is always a large amount of expectation held by the fans of a franchise on its every new entry and if it's not met then they start to complain. Like when the combat system in Bioshock infinte was not like its predecessors, or when Diablo 3 was not as dark as the original. There is no way to take measure on how much a game should be like its predecessor or how much new should it bring in to the franchise. Ppl should start judging sequels on their own merits as totally separate games because... well... they are. That said I hate the new Dante. I'm not a huge Devil may cry fan. But I play games to identify my self with a cool main character and the new Dante just looks like a stupid kid with a sword.

You did foregett that all your arguments become invalid in front of the Hair, you fool! (Please Imagine I say that in the style of a 70s Kung Fu Movie Villain, thanks!)

Disagree, I don't think you have to identify with a character to like them or find them cool, and I think the new Dante's a pretty cool main character even though I don't identify with him in the least.

Lovely video, especially loved the "Dark soul with light" clip playing right after the arguments about DmC's story. I love the shit out of DmC and so wish Capcom would let Ninja Theory make a sequel, but it'll probably never happen :'(

I forgot how cheesy that first game was, wow.

I see where you're coming from, but old Dante looks like a HUGE douchebag; I don't see how new Dante is anything less than a lateral move.
