Nintendo's new plans for revenue sharing with YouTubers doesn't directly impact me much, but I hate its implications and Nintendo's general attitude toward the new face of games media. While it's only in "beta," I don't think there's a way this can be altered that won't have horrible conflicts of interest at best, and see Nintendo exerting undue control over coverage at worst. Sod it.

Nintendo Creator's Program Bollocks (The Jimquisition)

http://www.patreon.com/jimquisition http://www.thejimquisition.com Nintendo's looking for feedback on the beta version of its new Creator's Program. Here's mine - BLURRRRRRP! No amount of improvement will fix an idea that is, in my opinion, fundamentally crap. Games shown in this video, all of which allow for monetized LPs are - Foul Play, Heavy Bullets, Gods Will Be Watching, Broforce, The Talos Principle, and Darkest Dungeon.

Ugh, the thought of getting into bed with Nintendo to cover their products is disgusting. "You can advise the consumer on whether or not to purchase Hyrule Warriors as long as you give us 40%. Of course that's after your network and Google have savaged your revenue stream as well. Aren't we nice?" You could argue fair use for critique content, but that would mean appropriate handling of YouTube's flagging and strike system. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!

When I heard about this program, the first thing I thought was; "You still don't get it Nintendo." And if this is the best they can come up with, they probably never will. So I'm sorry to say this but, rest in peace Nintendo Lets Plays on Youtube.

Some people will sign up for this. No doubt about that. They shouldn't do, but they will.

In the past 20+ Years I have asked myself many times how a company that 95% of the time makes such smart desicisions when it comes to Gamedesign can make so uttlerly stupid desicsion in other aspects. Surley there are a lot of smart People, what happens there?

I agree with you Jim. It was a stupid decision.

Of course they did. Nintendo seems to be reading the playbook that all the other publishers were using a few years ago. What would be next... I'd say adding an extra online account requirement to every game, but they only publish to their own platform, so that wouldn't change anything. I'm glad I don't like Nintendo's games any more; otherwise, their behavior would put me in a predicament. Well... I did want to try Bayonetta 2. Pity.
