Awesome vid as always; glad to see you address Patreon's idiocy - if they don't correct the issue I hope that you're successful in finding an alternative. Regardless, in spite of Patreon's blunder, you'll have my continued support. Every new vid (or podquisition or spin-off doctors) is always a treat. Thank God for you, Jim!

yeah, right now it's the people who are spread out with their donations that are going to feel this the most. It says something when maybe you're donating to 20+ patreons because you know you can part with 20,ish dollars, but then that becomes 7 bucks extra + 2.6%. Those users are looking at being taxed around 40 ish % for their pledges combined. And that doesn't even count how some patreon users pledge per video instead of per month, and they get charged that base fee and tax per video too. it's really pissing on people that want to spread the wealth vs the ones who pick few, and donate more. Either way, good video! honestly kinda glad I never got into the half life series considering the worst people I have met online seem to be fans of it.

This Patreon nonsense smells of venture capitalist. A stable business concept? What is this? We need a giant exploding bubble that leaves only worthless trash after we're done.

Would be cool to see Jim move to MakerSupport. A site that is new and much kinder to monetization and different opinions. There are still issues with the site as it's in it's infancy, but those issues won't affect Jim.

So, buddy of mine sent this link as a possible alt. <a href="https://www.makersupport.com/home" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.makersupport.com/home</a>

Just wanted to through out another crowd funding service by Kickstarter called Drip (<a href="https://d.rip/)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://d.rip/)</a> that may be a possible service to move too. It's partially running on an invite-only basis currently to test out their service. From some of the FaQs though, it appears to be very similar to Patreaon in nature. I just haven't found real information on their charging process as of yet. Again, Drip could be a viable option and something to look into.

Yep, that's the problem. I have no issue with passing the fees onto us patrons, but there is zero reason to levy them on every pledge. There are two possibilities with the new fee structure - either Patreon is run by imbeciles that are actually making multiple transactions, sending more money to payment processors than what is deserved - or they are making a cash grab themselves and pocketing the rest. Neither option is agreeable.

I’m pretty new to Patreon and I only donate a dollar a month to a couple people who’s internet shows I’ve enjoyed for years and thought I should start to support, even if it’s only a little every month. Now though, I’m pissed that my small donation means even less now. I now have to decide between upping a donation or cancelling it altogether.

Frankly, if Patreon doesn’t change and Jim moves to another service, I’ll definitely move with him and I’ll up my donation there just to spite Patreon for their incompetent business decision.

I'm finally able to support people with patreon after sucking on the teat of add free content. This pisses me off that I'm finally able to do something and they jizz in my eye as I sit at the table. I'm brand spanking new to the service, I just joined a few minutes before the post, and I'll move merrily along to follow Jim where ever he ends up at.

You're a Shadow Hearts fan? Definitely pledging to the right guy. &lt;3

The UK gambling authority did a study, found out 11-16 year olds are becoming addicted to gambling with CSGO Lotto Skins. Said it has become their top priority. “The Gambling Commission’s December 2017 Report: Young People and Gambling”. <a href="http://live-gamblecom.cloud.contensis.com/PDF/survey-data/Young-People-and-Gambling-2017-Report.pdf" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://live-gamblecom.cloud.contensis.com/PDF/survey-data/Young-People-and-Gambling-2017-Report.pdf</a> <a href="http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/PDF/survey-data/Gambling-participation-in-2016-behaviour-awareness-and-attitudes.pdf" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/PDF/survey-data/Gambling-participation-in-2016-behaviour-awareness-and-attitudes.pdf</a> <a href="http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/PDF/survey-data/Young-people-and-gambling-2016.pdf" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/PDF/survey-data/Young-people-and-gambling-2016.pdf</a> <a href="http://www.pcgamer.com/uk-gambling-commission-says-children-as-young-as-11-are-getting-into-skin-gambling/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.pcgamer.com/uk-gambling-commission-says-children-as-young-as-11-are-getting-into-skin-gambling/</a>

HL2 only came out because Valve had an unpopular business idea they wanted people to swallow. Back then everyone hated Steam because it was always-on DRM, and everyone assumed that Steam was going to fail completely because everyone knows gamers will NEVER accept always-on DRM. ....Then suddenly HL2 came out as their first Steam-Only release, That's when HL3 will come out. When everyone on Reddit is saying "I'll never let Steam put electrodes in _MY_ brain!", then HL3 will be released as an brain-electrode-only title.
