Here be my review of Dying Light, which really could have been amazing, if not for the game's seeming fear of... being amazing. I get this sense that "AAA" games are becoming afraid to stand out now. Like, they are mediocre by design, because if you look like everything else, you'll appeal to everybody. Or something. Shame.

Dying Light Review - Thumbs Down At Sundown

A promising game, brought low by its own lack of ambition. Developer: Techland Publisher: Warner Bros. Format: PC, PS4 (reviewed), Xbox One Released: January 27, 2015 Copy provided by publisher When I played Dying Light several years ago at PAX Prime, I was impressed.

Disappointing but not surprising really. I'm finding it harder to be excited about open world games the more they are reduced to mcguffin hunts and tower climbing ad nauseum. There certainly is a lot to be said for smaller, carefully crafted worlds as you said in Monday's vid.

Son I am disappointed, looked generally interesting, but happy that I'm no longer a part if the pre-order culture.

This game should be retitled Yet Not Another Zombie Game. That's what this is, just a generic Zombie game and that has an open world.

Well, these choices would fall to some game design project lead guy,and can you blame him for giving his bosses exactly what they asked for? I assume anybody with creativity would have left ubisoft ages ago.

People are to scared to make anything unique or challenging in case it doesn't sell so it's better to copy something that's selling already.
