How is it possible to think Cuphead's distinctiveness comes from the difficult gameplay? The hook is so obviously the artwork that you have to be willfully ignorant to think gameplay is what has given the game such a high profile.

Comments like these always remind me of the movie "Accepted," when the dean of the college is talking about how an institution's value is not in how many people it teaches or how many students it accepts, but in how many it rejects. This, to me, is the same viewpoint the "hardcore" crowd seem to have; that the value of the gaming community isn't in its diversity, whether that be of skill or any other element, but in its exclusivity, and that only by excluding others can they somehow prove that what they have is worthwhile. It's pretty darn sad.

I was trying to come up with a clever joke about Cuphead gamers sympathizing with non-gamers trying to play Cuphead being frustrated with easy mode cutting features out because they obviously can't find their browser's spell-check features, but then "ROYCETON! RUB! MY NIPPLAYS!" started blaring and I was cackling too hard to finish.
