Hey Everyone!

I've literally just finished the latest chapter and wanted to try and get it up here before my self-imposed deadline!

Some notes:

This Chapter is 26k words at the moment but there's a couple of additional scenes I still want to include to take it up to 30k words. Unfortunately I'm going away tomorrow, so I won't be able to finish them until Friday evening, but I thought I'd just give you the bulk of the chapter now rather than making you wait.

The first 15k has been given the once-over by editors, but the second half is fresh off the keyboard. I've still got plenty of editing left to do, so if you want to wait until the finished version is released, just wait for the *** FINAL *** tag to appear at the top of this post! I'll add subsequent versions as I go through each editing pass.

Anyway, if you fancy reading it now and don't want to wait, I hope you enjoy it. This is basically the way that the editors receive each new part as I finish them.

I can't get the mental image out of my head of Sakura answering some kind of page or hail when piloting the Valkyrie dressed in a school girl outfit and pulling off a giggle behind the hand move. I know she would always be wearing armor but I wonder if Dana can make that a camera overlay for the cockpit camera that does some kind of green screen thing on her. Yeah, it seems like a waste but a completely Dana move.

Chundering - Ha! T you probably lost a lot of us from the States and others, but the way you used it made it pretty understandable for puking, etc., for those who have spent sometime around some Brits. (spanner, turtle, boot, etc.) love it and enriches the English language everywhere.

This chapter is working out just as I had hoped. Finally the T-Fed will be relieved to get some of his tech...and just in time for when the Kintark attack again. I suspect they will get the same suite that the Ashanath got, except for the Crystal Alysium. I wonder if they will just get the Maliri crystal tech...Which they can use to increase the power on their laser tech. The whole fleet will soon be at the level of Invictus 2...except for the armor plating.

Tefler, enjoyed the new chapter, as always. Keep up the good work. I just have a beef with our protagonist that I'd like to address in a letter to him... Dear John. WTH? How many potentially Empire ending conflicts where the AARs can be summed up by... "we did alright in the end, but we were severely understaffed" does it take before the light dawns? Let's not take until the 7th trip to Maliri Space, or god-forbid when BSP shows up with a Thrall Army, before some steps are taken. Have Edraelle gather the Matriarchs and put together a Ship's Crew to staff the Invictus. Also, you know that big empty hole in the middle of the new and improved Battlecruiser that you are wondering how to fill? Why not pick a corner and put back the Marine Barracks and staff it with 300 soon to be white haired Maliri? A Paragon Suit building program and some combat operations training should go along way to getting ready for big old bad BSP. And coincidently the next intra-species war... ps. don't feel too bad for using the Maliri in this way, you are already sending girls into Ashana Space to help defend them. Just upgrade them to White hair while you are at it.

Some loose ends that need tying up: ---Feel free to add--- 1. All those Drakkar who were left out in space without means to retreat or survive 2. The Valkyrie upgrades 3. Sensae 4. The setting up of merchandise endorsements (to include kid's toys like “The Lion of the Federation Armored Suit” for boys and “The Lioness Armored Suit” for girls) 8. The invisibility fabric Sakura brought on-board the Invictus as a suit upgrade. 9. Shinatobe's master assassin ex-boss 10. The issues with Rachel's father (asking for her hand). 11. Calara catching up with her family (and Rachel with her father) 12. Brimorian Shields 13. Improved Heat sinks 14. The Quantum weaponry 15. The Progen ship armor (Dana can now 'see' how the elements work together to make the Progen Armor and incorporate it into the existing Invictus matrix of Crystal Alyssium so it will be an improvement over the existing Progen shield plates.) 16. The Progen capacitors (for the ship's plating and for storing energy for weapon's use without having to create more power cores and to smooth out energy spikes in the power system which would allow the cores to be run in parallel...making the whole system more efficient) 17. Body shields (the Kintark and Drakkar already have them...and Dana has access to the Drakkar shields now...so there is no excuse) 18. John's mother 19. John's other darker half. 20. The Kintark's second front 21. Bodies for both Athena and for Faye (I still say Rachel needs to start with Stem Cells, a nutrient rich incubation cylinder, and John's sperm and have John just build some bodies for them...although, Rachel may be able to do it now by herself) 22. Faye's PTSD 23. The two destroyer class weapon's platforms 24. The Astral plane Behemoth 25. The Ashanath Fleet rebuilding and new ship models 26. The creation of stealth ships as gravity well and mine layers (along with a massive build up of said gravity wells and mines).

The creation of next generation torpedoes that utilize already realized technologies: Programmable tractor beams to pull them into the ships so there are no thrust blooms to give them away and to eliminate any possible effective evasive maneuvers or even trying to outrun them. stealth technology like the skin Shinatobe wore which required little to no power so there is no tracking them. shielding to ward off both mass and energy weapon point defense systems as well as help rebound and contain shaped charge wave energies upon initial explosion. a miniaturized Progen power core which acts as a customizable shaped charge warhead (The U.S. already has anti-armor mines/rockets with this target informed, instantly custom shape-able, warhead tech) to either blow inwards in penetration mode or radially outwards in DE-shielding mode as the situation requires. A common tactical coms interface to allow for shared target recognition, prioritization, and platform coordination capabilities with the Invictus battle coms matrix making them truly fire and forget weapons. Armor piercing Maliri Crystal (or Progen shield technology) tips with its own impact activated, shaped charge to penetrate shielding and blow a hole through it (like a HEAT round) with crystal plasma for the Progen power core payload to move into as it overloads and explodes. (Combined with the shape-able blast of the power core primary payload this could involve a three step customizable combination of penetration, penetration, penetration or penetration, radial blast and penetration or penetration, radial blast, radial blast to set up another torp for penetration, penetration, radial blast....the potential is almost limitless.)

Nymph creation : I was thinking the other day how much easier Jade made it for John to "spread the wealth" among the Maliri engineers &amp; wondering why Mael had created a race of slaves when he already had the Maliri &amp; then a "ah ha " moment . I imagine they were used for the exact same reason as Jade , working at a Thralls recruiting station . Once Mael stopped conquering other worlds &amp; didn't need a thrall army ( at Valada's influence ) he didn't need them any longer &amp; to make her happy he freed them to their own world , Lenarra . Hopefully if there are any Nymph's left John will be able to recover &amp; free them .

We've been told Mael seemed to have blown up his ship to stop the invasion , but there is no proof he was killed . The ship Jessica &amp; crew found was badly damaged ,, so it might be the remains of Mael's ship &amp; the Progenitor on it might still be Mael .. Having blown up the worm drive the other parts of the ship might have popped up anywhere . Still holding onto idea John's dad in Mael-nerak .

When the Ashantha showed john &amp; crew the Monoliths about the Progenitors we saw the oldest depicting a Progenitor killing red skinned males &amp; taking the females , later we see we I thought was Mael-nerak with the blue skinned white haired Maliri conquering worlds but the Ashanta now say that rather than gathering the monoliths from destroyed worlds they were all in a "museum" showing Mael's conquests . So does that make the red skinned females the ancestors of the Maliri &amp; not a different species/progenitor ? Did along with making them his thralls did he change their skin color ? The Maliri were already serving Mael when he created Nexus to assist in created the other races in his cloning tanks so did he simply change their DNA thru Cumm manipulation ? New questions for Tefler to untangle .

They absolutely did.. But, it was more like, John and the girls having revelations with the Ashanath as spectators. But, to be fair, John and the girls didn't ask that many questions. It was the content of which was large, rather than the quantity. Asked much less than expected.

I'm seeing a hint of a potential new Wunderweapon. Synthetic wormholes. Mael'Nerak is mentioned using his wormhole tech to devastate a system and destroy a rival resulting in new wormholes randomly opening in that system to the present time. A variation is to deliberately open a wormhole within an Enemy vessel and rip out a chunk of their hardware, tossing it to an unknown location. Extending on this idea is to open a small wormhole of only several meters across in front of the enemy vessel causing them to fly over it, ripping out a long cylinder of their ship like an apple corer. Since the event horizon is a gravity effect the defense would be really powerful and responsive artificial gravity, something only Faye would be able to manage. Sensing the distortion in local gravity.

Interesting concept! Taking it one step farther, there could be other applications, too...Quantum Physics theory says there's 2 ways to create a wormhole: using one or more singularities to bend/link points in spacetime, or holes that occur naturally in the Quantim Foam that cause particles to suddenly appear/disappear in different parts of the multiverse (both of which rely on quantum entanglement, but the first requires a strong gravity source...which they conveniently have on-board as the Singularity Driver). If they could create the singularity, why not just create it inside the enemy ship and cause it to implode? Alternately, how about sending a big bomb (nuke warhead) through, bypassing the enemy shields to blow them up?

Thinking about how powerful Alyssa is when she's angry I can imagine reshaping an enemy's psychically shaped armor. She could peel BSP's ship like a banana. Thinking back to the shipyards and installing weapons, what's to stop a super strong psychic squad from landing on a hull and diss-assembling a ship's weapons? I am imagining that a draw back to psychic power is greater psychic power, the counter to psychic shaping is a more powerful psychic unshaping. I've got to think about something else.

If they could fire a singularity at ships it would rip them apart. That would be a really devastating weapon. We do not know if the black armor is psychically shaped, I don't think so. It only became psychic when Dana added it to the ashanath armor making invictium. Then allysium and finally crystal allysium. They may actually be ahead of the progenitors in that way. Dana will need to compare it to the progenitor section of the legacy to be sure. The next few chapters should definitely produce some new tech.

Excellent point. The BSP didn't have reported issues with a ramming by a black armored Dakkar. But John and company always seem to be worried about having something hit them. We need find out how BSP's armor is different than the Dakkar's. Wonder what color the new Ashanath armor will be? Mostly though I am saving up for the $175 pledge. Awesome!

I would not take that impact seriously. It was most definitely played for humor and to transition to the other progenitor's viewpoint. The odds of a ship randomly hitting another stealthed ship in a solar system are pretty much astronomical. (pun intended) Unless the Progenitor did it on purpose and put himself in the path, of course.

That one new scene as they leave the Ashanath port for the Legacy, I can't help but imagine the Ashanath version of traffic cops sitting off to one side of the traffic lane with a radar gun and clock the Raptor going so fast they just go "nope, not going to try."

Ok, I have an idea for cracking the BSP ship. Have Sakura, in her Mech, attach to the BSP ship's hull and use cryokinesis to make a large portion of it brittle....the part right where there is a critical ship system underneath, then use the rotary cannon to blast away the hull plating. Repeat until the critical system is more exposed and then have the Invictus hit it with Nova Lances and singularity rounds. Also, the Crew needs to refocus the lenses on the Nova Lances from a 100 meter wide beam to a 10 meter wide beam. This would make the Nova Lance have more penetrating power by a factor of 10 even without any other upgrades since ten times the power would be applied per square meter than the original. This may be beyond the crystal lense capability, but there is a way. Laser beams are affected by gravometric fields. by shooting the Nova Lance beam through a tube of antigravity, the beam can be compressed upon itself into a smaller diameter. This would also dramatically effect the range of the Nova Lance, with an original effectivness level a factor of 10 times the distance.

John, by the same token, why not compress the Nova Beam down to the diameter of a pencil? It doesn't matter how large an area it's covering, so long as it can penetrate the shields, no?... or make it even smaller, going for even greater range - say, the limit of the ship's sensors - and penetrating power? Given the duration of the Nova Beam blast, at a greater range, a small shift in the positioning of the Invictus could wipe out an entire fleet with an invisibly thin beam of energy... and they'll never know what happened or where it came from...

Greetings Tefler; I wanted to take a moment and say thank you for your tremendous efforts. I have been a long time consumer of the amazing content that can be found on literotica. Your contributions are a cut above. The imagination that you bring combined with your ability to create meaningful dialogue and avoid the pitfalls of repetition is beyond compare. I so enjoy the character development in TSM. Also your ability to lead the reader down the path were one can speculate on how things can work out and then you provide an offering with just the appropriate twist to create excitement and angst at the same time, Bravo! For some reason when you started down this path, I was not drawn to TSM. Two weeks ago, on a Friday afternoon, I finally decided to check out your work. Needless to say I got nothing accomplished that entire weekend other than reading chapters one through seventy-eight . Saturday morning I awoke and was so captivated I could not stop until 4am Sunday I started at 10am and the finished at 1 am, looking for chapter 79 like an addict looks for their next fix. Bravo! LOL, Chapter 79 delivered better than Heroin ever could. It has been an absolute joy to witness your writing style evolve through this process. I’m amazed at the number of story arcs that are currently still in process, you say you have 30 chapters, I’m thinking more like 130. (soft smile) Your ability to create frustration over why certain things have not evolved yet is amazing. And I have to remind myself how John is still coming into his own. For example, my frustration over the fight with the Drakkar Dragon royalty and the weapons pack on his back on the prison planet caused me fits. I kept on yelling at the screen “Why don’t you use your telekinesis and just rip it off his back?” And then chapter 79 delivers! Speaking of open arcs, I think it would be interesting to find out what happened to the female dragon royalty. I can only imagine that killing one of the members of royalty would cause a great stir on through the empire. Speaking of getting a fix, I have learned the approximate times when literotica posts the next day’s stories. I watch the comments almost daily for when you announced that you have submitted to the moderators. At which point my need for a fix becomes almost unbearable. I also would like to give you extra credit for the effort you are putting into the character development with Faye. I feel the reader can feel her pain. Hell, for that matter, all of the characters are evolving in such tremendous ways it is intoxicating to witness. Your ability to define a personality for a character and carry it through the entire story arc is a pleasure to experience. The breadcrumbs that have been dropped over the chapters are such a gift, they allow the reader to speculate on what is going to happen and create anticipation looking forward to the gifts that come from your amazing mind. I am really looking forward to the “heart to heart” that John and the girls are going to have with the Ashanath. I cringe every time I think about it. The foreshadowing of the fear that the Ashanath have of the Progenitor combined with the chapter 79 revelations should prove for a truly epic confrontation of the minds, all puns intended. Bravo to all of the great commenters that have provided such tremendous insights, from the debates over the ships weaponry and design, to the understanding of the human id is a profound statement on the class of people that you have been able to attract. I am not going to add my $.02 to these discussions except to quote the great Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor - “ MORE POWER, rrrrrrr, rrrrr , rrrrr” ( okay so I suck at writing grunts, lol) I can see the twinkle in Dana’s eyes as she thinks the same thing. Your foreshadowing of how she looks at the Ashanath designs and know something is inherently wrong is spot on. That being said, I have grown attached to the Invictus, and the thought of it being replaced by another ship brings a bit of sorrow to my heart. I so enjoyed the chapters on the retrofits, hoping for many more. And yes to all of those commenters out there, I truly understand that the age of the ship, and the retrofitting of the infrastructure does create a great cause for concern of the overall structural integrity and the sometimes you just have to start from scratch. Enough for now, Just wanting to say thank you again for all the amazing effort you have put into this epic adventure. Waiting breathlessly for my next fix. Master Laurent

Hey everyone, Sorry I haven't been active on here for a couple of days. I wanted to get stuck into chapter 81 and I've written 5k today. There's been lots of interesting comments, so I'll go back and respond to them tomorrow (or more accurately, later this morning!).

Oh, and I've commissioned some artwork! I'm hoping to see the preliminary sketch tomorrow and the final results in a week or two's time. If the artist does a good job, I'll pay him to do lots more! I'm thinking about making a $2 tier and then commissioning at least one piece of artwork a month and making it available for that tier and all the higher ones. I'm also working with another guy on an awesome secret project, so hopefully you'll get to see the results of that soon, too!

While she seems to revile in ship to ship battles &amp; enjoy blowing shit up she hasn't really done much in Melee combat &amp; hasn't even liked blood &amp; guts while helping Rachel in surgery .

Also can see the Valkyrie landing in the middle of the awards ceremony doing cartwheels across the stage! - and it would give Sakura the ability to still be the protector in the event that someone would try to assassinate John. And it would be really cool if the Valkyrie had the cloaking device from Sakura's ship. The Foreshadowing of Sakura's "Spider-Sense" in the Ashanath shipyard is great.

OK, The Progenitor does not typically like to share Tech and I also feel reserved about sharing the tech with the Terran because of the history of expansion. I can understand giving them "Watered Down" versions of things. I am sure that Dana can redesign the tech in such a way that it works well above what they currently have, however, does not offer a path to what John has as a result of Dana's Magic redesigns based on her Progenitor Knowledge. I think that the Ashanath and Maliri can be trusted for obvious reasons - even then I would Temper the tech that is released. From a Style stand point I will keep my comments to a single topic and post several to allow others to comment.

Dana's new psychic abilities, can they be used with Psychic Shaping for added benefits? What about a shield during battle - thinking of a situation where they are relaxing and an assassin fires a projectile weapon and she is able to stop the projectile?

Can you tell I have a fixation on Assassins - they are a great wild card - what about poisoning? The Maliri royalty said they have learned to cook because of the fear of poisoning. Sakura needs to deal with her old boss!

As far as the Heat Syncs - I think that Irillith should go and get the designs from the Terran's so Dana can compare with the tech they got from the captured Drakkar weapons. John can still be a trader with Vice Admiral Harris for fun, and it will also make sure that John and the team are able to get all of the info found. After saving the Terran home world, One would think that they would be going overboard to be cooperative. The irony is how close the Terran's attitudes hit a little "Close to Home".

John's a boy scout, so he's not about to go stealing...er, "requisitioning" the stuff when he can get it legitimately and help out a friend at the same time. I just hope Dana has the chance to examine the goods before they finalize the deal to make sure that the heat sinks are indeed superior to what they had before.
