Luna

I love the album, my top three are bound, burn and guilty pleasure He does perf villain and bound at music shows and has dance practices for them, they are fun performances Now that you mentioned how villain has JT vibe, i really see it, when it was first released I was like this song has early 2000’s vibes and could see it being performed by someone at the time and now that you mentioned it, yeah I can see early JT vibe in it His main influence as an artist is BoA, he wanted to be an idol because of her but overall yeah he mentioned a lot how pop stars like BoA, Lady Gaga & Beyoncé, etc….in general were big part of how his music taste became while growing up, so his solo work is more pop, dance-y & kinda brighter than the rest of shinee members solo work & it kinda reflects on his music. He write very relatable direct lyrics too like “I can’t sleep, goat and proud”; they always hit me hard of how relatable they are lol Also yeah he has a song with sy, he loves idle music and wanted to work with her and the song “I wanna be” was the tt for his repackage, the song has an mv. Fun fact him and yuqi share the same birthday it’s cute

Oh I love the album, in this album he mix the sound of his more personal emotions like in face album and between the retro-ish style he like without directly making either the focus. His main influence or his idol growing up was BoA My faves are bound, g.o.a.t and burn ( easy too if we talk about the repack tracks like between easy and heartless I love easy more) He does perform bound at music shows, he performs villain as well jeno performs it with him too & he has dance practices for both bsides ( he has dance practices for both killer and gasoline) as well they are really good. Killer was supposed to be his main title track but he changed his mind last minute and wrote gasoline with Kenzie because he didn’t want bad love and killer be back to back with similar vibes. He has a performance video / vcr video for another life by the way His new mini album is really good too, it’s more chill than his previous works but still so him with the synth & hints of retro-ish vibe

Oh I love all of the album, I can’t chose top3 but my most played from the album are: bound, guilty pleasure, burn, another life, villain, and g.o.a.t His first album is like this one, he mix things up more a bit in his full albums in terms of sound while his mini albums get extra conceptually in terms of the sound of his bsides and how they flow together His new mini is great by the way and very funky, has the synth and the retro vibes, they totally different than the title track

ooh if you want synth heavy, FACE (his first album) is the perfect album for you. It's like if skrillex produced a kpop album lol

Cami L

No one has answered yet but for "Delight," Laputa is a reference to "Gulliver's Travels" and probably the Studio Ghibli film "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" which itself was inspired by the "Gulliver's Travels" story. In both fictional stories, Laputa is a floating city/island in the sky that is beautiful and grand but is actually a tool of oppression and violence used by a tyrant to control those below. In Gulliver's Travels, Jonathan Swift uses it as an allegory for the English Monarchy's control of Ireland. In Hayao Miyazaki's film, it's very much an allegory and critique of the destructive way people use technology in the pursuit of militaristic, industrialist, and capitalistic power. TBH for Key's song the reference may just be the fact that it's a shiny, mythical castle/city in the sky and fits in nicely as a reference for his space/fantasy lyrics. BUT the darker reference also interestingly ties into the overall "Villain" storyline of the Gasoline and Killer albums of a god ruling over his domain so another part of me believes the reference must be a little kernel of darkness in the otherwise bright song on purpose. My favorites in order are Bound, Killer, Another Life, Villain, I Can't Sleep, Delight, and Ain't Gonna Dance.
