Like you asserted during gogobebe, a lot of these 'best of' versions of the songs are re-recordings of versions they've performed in the past. Songs like paint me and some others later on in the album (wont spoil it for you) are the concert versions. Moonbyul really shines in these reimaginings. She had to write all new raps for some of their songs from the earlier years since they were collab songs so there was less room for a full rap verse previously. She said on a studio moon night episode that she's thrilled to get the royalties on these songs now lmao.

In terms of liking this starry night version more, i think even though the 4 seasons title tracks were truly their breakout into longterm success, i think they dont have some of that Mamamoo secret sauce that i appreciate the most. So both of the new versions of egotistic and starry night are superior to me as well. I can envision them on stage performing these two live. (e) What you said at the end resonated with me quite a bit. I fell into being a moomoo during decalcomanie so I definitely miss their older sound sometimes. That mix of amazing vocals and quirky personality that I completely fell for during decalcomanie/yes i am isn't quite at the forefront like it used to be. But where the group is right now as four very individual artists is where I've fell for them once again. Seeing them thrive with their own unique colours has been super rewarding as a fan. It's so exciting to anticipate how they will sound when they come back together as OT4 and bring back in all of the experience they've been garnering in their solo work. Next big Mamamoo comeback should be legendary.

In Gogobebe what Moonbyul say is 9 / 6 (nine slash six) 6 19 (six nineteen) which, if I'm not mistaken, is a reference of their debut date. Just wooow, I'd never heard the two versions of Miss you side by side and the changes are simply incredible. If you liked Words Don't Come Esay you should check the live performance, it's just... something else. I completely agree with you that these versions are like getting that extra 10% we were missing of. I tend lo listen to both versions of them, whaterever comes first in my playlist, but if I feel more like looking for a bigger experience I would definitely listen to this album versions.

For me all these album versions are superior to their originals with the possible exception of Your the Best (I am still really amused by combining ZZ-top with Mamamoo) and that one I definitely like also. Many of these are versions they've done for concerts or award shows but none of them are exactly the same. All of them are cleaner richer versions. A lot of the older B-sides didn't have Moonbyul on them or had various guest artists in the original but not it's just Mamamoo. Finally, while I would have thought that their voices were perfect at the time they actually are better now. Good singers who don't injure themselves just get better as they mature.

When they said they will release The Best album, they didn't lie. It really was the best, each version and remake made the songs better, if not, best. Egotistic Blistering Sun Ver. had more drums and horns that made it more like a festival in Brazil or Cuba or something. The original had less of those. This album just proves that they barely had bad songs no matter which era they were made from and that their songs really are so varied when it comes to genre that solidifies the saying that Mamamoo is the genre itself. It's soooo good. Thank you for reacting to this! Looking forward to the part 2! :)

ugh I had to refresh and lost my comment, but essentially.... yes, these are almost all replacements for me. I just love that CONCERT feeling more than anything when it comes to mamamoo, it's what they're best at. They are excellent at rising action and strong payoff. Completely converted me on egotistic, windflower and gogobebe -- I didn't enjoy the mixing before on mmm title tracks very much before, but these are incredible. And yeah, every song here is either a pure re-recording, ot4 + new moonbyul raps without featuring artists, or a complete genre remix.

I'm a very recent moo too, but I don't find it to be a "sacrilege". The 2021 ver.s are mostly re-recorded - Hwasa and Moonbyul especially said they'd decided to re-recorded all of their parts b/c their vocal colors changed a lot. (I'm guessing the other 2 didn't go to that extent b/c they looked surprised at that news) I love the new ver. since you can really hear how their tone changed from past-present. Also Moonbyul's new raps are a definite plus. Moonbyul probably participated in lyrics for 15-17 and composed for 2 songs in the album. (w/other writers&composers) Solar and Hwasa each wrote for about 5 songs too. Queens One part I went a bit "Aww" in the reaction was that you didn't see the lyrics for Words Don't Come Easy. I see other ppl mentioned WDCE already haha I really hope you'll see the lyrics whether in your own time or on reactons. Why I'm (or we're) so hung up about that particular song... hope you can find out, or maybe other comments might tell you

I didn't add some songs to my playlist and I didn't replce any older ones. Some I haven't been a fan of since the beginning and they didn't appeal much more now either and some of the originals hold so much feeling for me I can't let them go 😅 but every song is arranged in a fantastic way. Everyone said pretty much everything I wanted to so I'll just add; Piano Man is still my no. 1 Mamamoo song and I cannot replace that, BUT this new version has the claps in the second pre-chorus! It's has been my wish since Piano Man came out that they'd release a version with the claps. For that reason only it is this close 👌to topping the original. Great reaction!

okay I'm gonna do a brief explanation of the hihihaheho 'part 2': the original song had features and no moonbyul. the part 2 is just the original song except no features and moonbyul is there and for your next reaction of this album: destiny part 2 is basically just destiny but with a different instrumental, and the chorus is different. from what I can hear, not every song is re-recorded, they only re-recorded when it was necessary (e.g moonbyul's new parts) my opinions! well firstly I love hihihaheho part 2 because I felt guilty about listening to the song before knowing byul was left out, and now I feel so much happier about listening to it! also I never listened to egotistic much but the new version seriously made me fall in love again, specifically the chorus. the change is so subtle but that extra saxophone(?) or whatever sounds so good! and the extended instrumental in the bridge is *chefs kiss* I was surprised when you pulled up words don't come easy original version because I never knew it sounded so.. empty in comparison lol. I have to mention that i don't like rock that much and although I can vibe with the ggbb rock version, you're the best 2021 is a no for me! which is a shame bc I love the original a lot and I was looking forward to it ajdjdjs. sorry for the long comment 😅

Mamamoo doesn't do anything half-assed and it's one of the many reasons I love them haha. As far as I know, they also at least personally chose which of their tracks would go on the album, if not completely what they were gonna do to change them.
