Re: Your comment about them having such cute members without having a cute concept, I have a theory about that. I think Cube may have initially wanted them to be a cute group, but Soyeon threw a wrench in their plans. The name of the group in Korean, (여자)아이들, or (yeoja)aideul, translates to "(female)children", which sounds like a name you'd give to a group with a cute, childlike concept. They debuted around a year after CLC switched from a cute concept to a girl crush concept, so I have a feeling Cube may have let CLC switch concepts because they figured they could have Idle take over the cute role. If that was their plan (and again, this is all pure speculation on my part) Soyeon would have thrown a wrench into it when she got tired of waiting for Cube to give them a debut song, and wrote and composed Latata. Soyeon ended up taking creative control over the group, and took them in a different direction. Cube would have to wait a few more years until they debuted Lightsum before they'd get to have that cute group they wanted.

Also, I'm with you on feeling like the Soojin thing isn't real. I don't think it's going to feel entirely real until they have a comeback without her, then the reality of it is going to hit me like a brick. At this point, I'm not expecting any sort of miraculous turnaround where she re-joins the group and everything goes back to normal (as happy as it would make me if that happened) but I do hope she's able to clear her name, maybe join another company, and have a successful solo career at some point in the future. She's definitely good enough to be a soloist if that's a direction she wants to go. Most of all, though, I just hope she's okay, and that she knows she still has fans who care about her and want what's best for her.

There's really something about this group. I just love them so much. Also, somehow I still haven't accepted Soojin not being a part. I just think of it as an extended hiatus. How could they just say it and leave it without any explanation. It's just absolutely ridiculous.

That makes sense. There's an old Radio Star interview somewhere where she says Cube's original meaning behind the name was something about never being bored, leaning more into the English "idle", but she didn't think it felt right and came up with her own ideas. Jeon CEO, 19 years old.

"Why is everything in English?" Oh Soojin 😂 I miss her. I generally try to keep my expectations low, but there's definitely still a part of me holding out hope that things will work out. I really do love this group, I've been missing them a ton lately too. It's so nice to rewatch this show, I almost forgot how much I love it. And I totally agree with you about loving to see the different member dynamics in these larger groups. That's probably one of my favourite things about (G)I-DLE and LOONA, it's so interesting to see how members can act differently depending on who they're with. The Soojin/Shuhua dynamic is one of my favourites on idle, so I refuse to believe that we won't see it again 💔 And yeah, Fanta is huge in Europe, I drink it all the time. I didn't realise that it was different in the US haha

As always, thanks a ton for checking this out. 😄 Glad you're having a good time with it, it's like intravenous serotonin to me. They're so cutely chaotic! And I really miss them too, it's crazy that we're still in the same year that I Burn came out. Feels like ages. I'm still naively hopeful that it's all going to be fine... but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the actual call to leave was Soojin's own at this point. I just hope she's okay. 😔 I always make my own pancake mix and then have ice cream and strawberry jam, or (weirdly?) apple sauce. That's childhood on a plate. Miyeon's Ahri heart at 21:46. I love her. 😁 The Beam Beam era had a lot of 2yeon, and even though they're very different people I love seeing the K/DA line.
