Beta Testing :)

Starting this month, submission of rewards will be different. Since artworks are compiled via WinZip, I will add password in it to make it a bit secure. You will receive passwords for each posts via private message (v1, v2 and v3 tier will have different passwords). It may be a tedious work but I want to test it out.

Let me know what you think in the comments.

As long as it doesn't increase your work load, its cool right?

So according to this process if someone were to subscribe for the first time in August they would not gain access to content in their respective tier released in July?

Zelgiusthebrave

I'm down with it, should help keep the work you do from going Public before you want it to.

Sounds awesome, and if you add a new tier I know for sure I'll be joining 😂

Not a bad idea so pic don't get leak easily

I believe I set up a welcome note for new time patrons, something like that. I might or should change it every time I compiled the whole rewards for the month. Since that welcome note is private, I will write passwords in their respective months. My plan is the whole month rewards will have only 1 password and inside includes a password note for the rest of the rewards. It's a bit confusing but I still wish to try.

One of my problem is those who download rewards on their iPhone. WinZip or Zip files works there right? I don't own an iPhone (yet). :)

Admiralbiatch2

I just want it to be easier to download there are so many files to download. Though, I do like the fact you've made sure all of your work can be downloaded since, I'll admit, I do go several months without downloading and it can be frustrating when I can't find the content due to "time running out".

Sounds like a lot of work, and i don't see much gain from it. Patreon already protects the files against direct downloads from non-subscribers. And should a subscriber decide to maliciously redistribute a zip without consent, he (or she?) could as well include the password or even re-zip the content without a password. Takes only a minute or two, much less than your efforts to manage the password lists...

CoolStoryBro

Please don’t. Another artist I’m a patron of puts passwords on the zip files. For some reason my computer refuses to open zip files that have passwords. I have to ask the artist every month to send me the files without a password so that I can open it.

kimmy77

What file application are you using? Have you tried WinRAR or 7zip? Those work fine.

kimmy77

Yeah I feel like patreon is not doing a great job protecting their creators from this site.

kimmy77

Previous months won't have passwords. I'll make variations as less as possible.

Eeehhh.... I'm all for content producers trying to protect their work, but as a few others have pointed out - with how easily it could be bypassed & how much of a hassle it'll be for both you & your patrons, I don't see it being beneficial. One of the main things I appreciate about your current setup is how user-friendly it is. Would routing it through a 3rd party possibly be a viable alternative? One of the other creators I support on patreon uses Wetransfer, gives a bit more security to the creator from what I understand, but it's not a pain in the ass for the patrons either.

Kimmy, I'm curious as to what the reasoning behind putting passwords for the files. I'm not putting down the idea, just wanting to make sure the method is going to have the intended results.
