I'm constantly drawing new fish for The Big Book - new taxa that I want to include, and revision of drawings done waaaay back at the start of this project and which now need revision. Everything here is extant: paddlefishes (like Polyodon at top left) and bichirs (like Polypterus at top right) are the members of lineages that stretch back to the Cretaceous... but the gobiiforms here have no fossil record, they're actually included in the book because they don't have fossil records and really should , grrr!

These are all gobiiforms that have adapted to terrestrial (or semi-terrestrial) life: the mudskipper Boleophthalmus, the rockhopper blenny Andamia and the leaping rockskipper Alticus. For the exact context in which they're discussed, I guess you'll have to see the book...

Gobies and blennies don't have a fossil record but they are so diverse! Quite annoying especially in regards to figuring out how long taxa like mudskippers have been adapting to terrestrial living.
