Oh I have been so, so excited to see the finished Ariel! She looked so very, very beautiful and vibrant during the livestream and now in her finished version, she looks even better! I am very impressed with your work here 😻😻😻😻😻👏👏👏👏👏 Firstly, this background is amazing! The multiple hues of blue throughout the image are gorgeous, especially nice with the vibrant, bright blue light shining down on Ariel and illuminating the water around her. The orange fish and purple and orange coral on the sea floor add a really nice touch of contrasting colour to the cool blue and i especially like how the coral in the background looks as if it's fading away into the distance 😸. The lighting on the rocks to the side also look terrific with them mostly in shadow but with bright light shining onto the top planes, to really give the pillar of rocks this rippling feeling as the planes change. I am seriously impressed by the overall feel of the background, you clearly put a lot of thought into the environment with the colours and lighting, honestly, i think it might be one of your BEST backgrounds ever! 👏👏👏👏👏 And then there's Ariel herself and she is absolutely breathtaking! The warm, fiery red of her hair is such a strong and striking contrast to the surrounding blues, similarly her warm skin tones also pop beautifully. But then you added blue tinting to the tips and edges of her hair, as well as to the shadows on her skin, further contrasting with the warm tones and also really making Ariel feel like she belongs in this environment and that the water and lighting affect her. The lighting on her skin is amazing too, with most of Ariel shrouded in cooler, darker shadows as she raises her hand to catch the light. The strong lights shining onto her raised fingers, hand and arm are a striking contrast with the shadows and look beautiful. I also love how some, less strong light then lands onto her other arm, her face, breasts and ribcage, it gives this lovely cascading effect when the light starts really strong but then dims further down Ariel's body (And her left hand/arm look just as good as the other arm with that contrast in light and dark). Moving down the image, I am again very impressed with how you handled Ariel's tail. The shining, translucent texture of her "belt" looks gorgeous and very striking with a strong core shadow running through the centre, while warm lights run through the brighter blue. The fins at the end of her tail look gorgeous, fully rendered as the flow, curl and fold in the water, while also being transparent. And then the tail itself has a smooth texture to it with shining scales to add even more texture and lighting contrast to the darker green/blue colour. I also like how a dark core-shadow runs through the centre of her tail, with the warmer light hitting one side, while a cool blue light highlights the opposite side, creating a warm/cool contrast as well as some lovely contrasts in light and dark. But moving back up to Ariel's top half! (Seriously though, the tail is amazing! 👏👏👏👏👏) I love her purple bra with how you've rendered the overlapping shapes of each bra segment, the texture is great too with strong core shadows to contrast with the bright lights, giving the purple a shiny texture. The bright blues that highlight the purple also look gorgeous and add even more cool-contrast to the surrounding skin tones. And of course, you know this is coming.... I LOVE this shade of purple! 💜💜💜💜💜 The particular cool purple that you've chosen just appeals to me on so many levels, I can't describe it other than to say that I adore it and I so hope to see it again! (Oh and the alternate, smaller bra, that you included is a delightfully sexy addition 😉😻) You have given me so much to talk about with this painting, Didi that only now am I moving back to the hair, face and skin 😹 As always, the hair is luxuriantly detailed with a gorgeous shine on the top planes. I really like how the hair around her back is so much darker where the light doesn't touch it, contrasting strongly with the shiniest, brightest top planes. The cool blue tones running up from the bottom are gorgeous, especially with how they accentuate the shapes of the hair as it curls inwards towards Ariel's body (And that single strand of hair running over her face is so adorable!). The skin of her body is such a beautifully soft and smooth texture with amazing blending of tones, the delicate definition of her anatomy is gorgeous with her raised shoulder and the many plane changes of her stomach being particularly delightful. And the more subtle contrasts in light and dark tones on her breasts, ribcage and stomach just makes the stronger contrasts of her hands/arms and face really pop. Speaking of her face... Ooooooooooooooooooohhhh!!!! She's so pretty and cute and lovable! 😻😻😻💙💙💙😻😻😻💙💙💙😻😻😻💙💙💙😻😻😻💙💙💙😻😻😻💙💙💙 Her big blues eyes are so striking against her warmly lit face, and that warm light that lands on the side-planes of her head really accentuates the plane change from the side of her head to the front planes of her face. Her little nose is adorable, especially with that shine spot, the details around her eyes are gorgeous with the brighter sections above her eye-lashes really standing out against the shadows. And her lips are divine with the shine-spots really popping against the darker tones, giving them this appealing, juicy texture. I also really like the deep shadows that define the corners of her mouth, as well as the expression of her eyebrows, something about them makes her look so cute and innocent. Oh I think this will have turned out to be an especially long comment 😹😹😹 But I couldn't help it, this painting is so full of detail! I only just now remembered the bubbles on the water! They look great and add even more motion to the setting as they rise up in curling patterns, with many bubbles in different, squishy shapes. I think that this may be one of my new favourite paintings of yours! The colours are so vibrant and beautiful, they remind me of those images from Ori and the Will of the Wisp that I sent you, the ones from the water level 😸. The lighting is simultaneously striking and subtle and Ariel herself is simply perfect. Well done, Didi! You should be very proud of this painting, it is a masterpiece of colour, lighting and detail with a stunning background, it really has that magical feeling that I love so much from your paintings!
