Most excellent work Didi, She turned out great, so far I've seen only the covers but damn She cute 😁The summer get a bit cooler and barable thanks to You and Mei ^. ^ Cant wait to see the rest of this artwork when I get back from work. Oh wow, Didi, I've been so looking forward to seeing the finished version of this painting and you did a beautiful job here! 👏👏👏 I really like the background here and how the overall lighting on Mei is affected by it, with a less vibrant sky leaving Mei more covered in shadow with only small areas of bright sunlight shining on her, providing striking contrasts with the shadows across her face and body. I also really like how you've blended the sand into the water, the transition between sand and water is simultaneously very painterly and seamless which is very impressive! And I feel like this painting is more painterly than most of your works, with more obvious brush-strokes and an even greater sense of texture and this is something that I really enjoy! 😸 But starting off, something I love is the style for Mei's hair, the top planes with the stark light shining down on it and on the ribbon in her hair looks almost cel-shaded and they each look so warm and vibrant, really popping against the grey sky, and of course, you packed in a tonne of detail into her hair and gave the ribbon a gorgeous little shine. The same can be said for her blue hair, the dark shadows contrast starkly with the bright blue which also has a striking shine, with the blue popping so well against the warm tones of her hair and face. And of course, her face is so beautifully painted and a lot of her appeal comes from the lighting, I really do love the warm, sunlight glow shining across her hair and face, illuminating her cheek, chin and lips and giving her this gorgeous, radiant glow that instantly draws our eye to her lovely face. And I do also enjoy her glasses with the way you captured the feeling of the surface of the glass. And looking at her clothes and zooming in on them, that painterly, textured feeling that I mentioned before is seen throughout all of them and I absolutely adore seeing it! 😻😻😻😻😻 The folds in her bra have this scratchy texture to them which looks terrific, while her gloves and green belt have entirely different feels to the material, while still letting us see the brush-strokes and how they blend together. Her blue skirt is especially striking with the combination of the textures and the bright light shining on them from one side. The rippling planes of blue with hard edges separating the light and dark tones defines the plane changes so perfectly and is wonderful to look at! Likewise, the yellow apron is gorgeously painted with it's own rippling planes and beautifully painted textures, I especially like how on Mei's left side, the yellow folds are heavy and collapsed together, while on the right, the folds have separated out with thin planes of light and longer planes of shadow. And of course Mei's body is perfectly and beautifully done with this more painterly style, combined with the use of small areas of strong light against the major areas of shadow. The brighter, pale white lights shining onto her neck and shoulders as well as the palm of her left hand and on the contours of her right thigh, below the blue skirt, all of these contrast so well with the shadows while really accentuating those areas. Similarly, the more yellow, warmer lights that glow on the undersides of both of her fore-arms as well as on her knees/inner thighs are also very eye-catching and work so well with the shadows to define those areas. There's so much more to say and I'll save that for the NSFW comment 😉. But with this comment, I really hope I got across just how much I am in love with this painting, the colours and strong contrasts in lighting are all so gorgeous and once again, your use of texture and painterly brush-strokes all look so very appealing!
