...You think Jim Davis will hate me for this? 030"

'Gabfield' saved my buns for this month!

I wanted to do a few cartoon parodies as Sunday comic, all centered around Gabby and her imagination. Most of them were meant to be drawn by my husband and only intro (and maybe outro) panels were meant to be the original artstyle. Sadly that idea got pushed into the future due to hubby being occupied with some other project aside of this strip.

However since the Garfield art style wasn't too difficult to handle we decided to keep at least this parody in this year's run...but for October (because Halloween and blah)

Anyway...I screwed up this month 0A0

Don't ask me why but thanks to some ill planning I ended up starting way too late with this month's Sunday strip. I didn't want to blow my deadline therefore we changed plans and decided to publish 'Gabfield' instead of the real Sunday this month.

Thanks to a simple art style and lotsa copy/paste this comic was done within a couple days. Yay :D

I wonder if it will be seen as a bit too mean spirited. I just wanted to poke fun of the whole 'copy/paste'-style because it always had a rather cheesy feel to me (which is the reason that I refuse to do that on 'in SECURITY' and draw every panel new, even if I have to trace it. uff!). However I do have to admit that lotsa artist, who do that, deserve some slack on it. Tight deadlines and (in some cases) no assistant are no fun....the heck, even I had to experience that XD

Next month you get a normal Sunday again and thank you for your support ^0^

Have a nice Sunday

I like it. Bill Watterson used to do things like this, and Berke Breathed once did a Garfield parody in which the character was actually James A. Garfield, the twentieth President. Jon came in dressed in top hat and cravat and said, "Did you ruin the furniture in the Oval Office, sir?" You join a noble tradition. Ow's a good candidate for it too.

It's always good for the environment to recycle!

True ;D Although reality is this particulate strip really was quite environment friendly. I used only 1/3 of the paper I usually need to draw a Sunday comic...and since coloring went super quick, I didn't need the same amount of electricity either...darn, as much as I dislike copy/paste...it's so economical ._.

I think I saw that strip just the other day (My husband has a couple of Breathed's books) I'm glad it's well received :)
