Please let me introduce you to the dumpest person on this planet: Me!

Those of you, who read my latest WIP-posts, already know, I had a minor hard drive crash two weeks ago, which corrupted some files including lost work of about 10-15 hours on The Carnal Eve. Of course I copied all the remaining files to another hard disk partition to be safe, in case the hard drive will finally shut down.
And well, it did two days ago. Since I secured all the data before, I wasn' really shocked...till I noticed the probably dumpest thing I ever did on a PC. The partition I used for my backup was part of the broken hard drive as well!

Long story short: I lost all, absolutely all SFM files and stuff related to it. I even lost my Logo and Intro-Animation.

Before you panic, of course I have an online backup for most of my animation-projects (all recent once, like The Carnal Eve), but I lost most of my old project files, including my progess on The Forgotten Rituals, which the animation above was part of.

A friend of mine luckily found an old render of this animation, so I am at least able to upload this version of the animation here:

Since the project files are lost, I will never be able to finish this pose. Since it was one of my favorites, it really kinda hurts me. :-(

To bring me back on the road, I'll publish some new stuff tomorrow.

God, I'll never forgive me that!

This pose is so erotic and arousing , hope it does get re-used, I like Triss' rough action. The rougher and messier the better. Can't wait for the Golden Grain.

:( I was looking forward to that anomatiokn because of that pose but life goes on

Be sure, I will try to recreate this pose one day in this or another setting.

Was "The Carnal Eve" damaged hard by this incident? Can we have a hope to see it in 2019?

desiresfm

Did I hear a little bit of irony in your comment. ;-) No, The Carnal Eve was luckily not affected by this second crash.

There are many ways to recover content in damaged HDs. Try to search about it or send the HD to a recovery service. my advice. good luck

I must admit, these missteps are wearying. Hope to see something solid soon. I think I’ll have to lower my pledge next month if nothing turns up. Got to prioritize.

I sure understand this step. It is a great disadvantage of making bigger projects, since the time from start to finish is so long, compared to short looped animations. I am still not sure, how to handle this general (communcation-)problem, but I hopefully will find a satisfying way for all of us in the future.

I usually make a backup on an external drive (USB3 or E-SATA) with a sync software which only syncs new or changed files, so it doesn't take that long. However I do it once a month and a lot can happen within a month , so there will always be sth. lost. Only solution for real time backup would be RAID 1.

Well......that really sucks. I would say definitely get and external harddrive for back up. This just goes for any person ever, I learned the hard way long ago. Also as Seba has said, try find a place that does harddrive recovery. My brother had to this before and he got everything back.

Damn, this is bad news! Lost work is just the worst. Also I confess I was really looking forward to this scene, both for the characters involved and to learn this part of the story. Oh well. Don't let it get you down, and keep up the good work :)

Sad to hear about the HDD, but to try and be positive, the released animation is amazing. Got to say I love triss facial animations. Not just the quality, but just how it looks like she's always on the brink. Can't wait for your next project! =)

Too bad. The Forgotten Rituals was actually the video I was looking forward to the most. :-(

Wait, I dont get it, you lost your old project files, but.....when you started it all, you either HAD those project files or you GOT them from somewhere. Cant you get them again from where u got them in the first place ?

desiresfm

I had those project files till the crash. Then they were lost. I have an online-backup with most of my project files, but not all of them.
