[Weekly Development Update #10] - Godson v0.2 - Marnie 2.0 (Patreon)

Hey guys, back with another development update.

I hope everyone enjoyed playing v0.1.5! I pushed hard and managed to finish it within 2 months, but now it's time to talk about v0.2. I also want to offer a warm welcome to everyone who has become a member within the past few days. Your support means alot and helps me to make Godson one of the best VNs out there, if it isn't already for you that is.

First things first, I recently upgraded to Blender 4.0 from Blender 3.6 and it has been....interesting. I like everything that was changed/added, but the one thing that stood out was the fact that they changed the Principled BDSF node. I don't know about anyone else, but for me, it changed how my characters look - it actually makes them look better! Somehow, and not sure if this was intentional by them; they seemed to fix an issue I was having that involved SSS and Specular. Won't get into specifics because I'm sure you guys don't care lmao, but this unintentional fix has made my characters look a lot better. My character shaders are quite complex to get a realistic look so I'm always looking to improve what I have, all the time. I been working on this shader for the past 3 years.

Anyway, basically you may notice that my character models may look ever so slightly (in a good way) different in v0.2, and from future things I post like pin-ups, etc. That's all. Marnie Model Upgrades: I have recently made some extensive upgrades to Marnie's character model, ones that were a bit overdue. First, I removed her makeup and made it a separate node group so all I need to do now is slide the node into the BDSF and boom, instant make-up whenever I want. I did this because, with everything that has happened so far, Marnie will basically tell you in the beginning of v0.2 that she is trying to be more natural and wear less makeup; so she'll be at the party makeup-less. She's an exhibitionist and an environmentalist/botanist (couldn't tell by all the plants around the house??) so she's all about being more natural. Of course, when you met her she was wearing tons of makeup - so this shows how you (the mc) are starting to have an effect on her being comfortable with herself. Of course, if you are playing your cannon game as a goody-too-shoes nice guy, she will still tell you she is trying to be more natural as you still have had an effect on her, but it will be for different reasons.

Besides the above, I also sculpted her feet a little better for a nice mature look, shaped her breasts to be slightly more full, better hands and face detail (sculpt), better skin wetness,  new hair, etc, to name a few. I have also added a BUSH to Marnie too. Alot of people have been asking about it, so I gave her one. It's up in the air if I actually use it forreal or not. We will do a poll next week on to keep the bush or don't, but let me know how you feel about it in the comments right now. You can see a full-body look at Marnie 2.0 in the pin-up I posted yesterday.

Clarity of GOLD versions of Godson: The GOLD version of Godson will always include extra content, and the extra content of the previous releases' GOLD version. This extra content could include extra animations, extra scenes, or both. The non-gold version will never include any GOLD version content.

Next thing: the party. Currently, I am setting up the house for the party and making additional characters needed for it. I have plenty of background characters (see animation above), but I am working on the main/side characters at the moment that will be introduced. Most of these characters, besides 2 more women, will be side characters and or side love interests. Many people will be at this party and I don't want you guys to feel overwhelmed while playing, so I promise I will make it very easy for you guys to navigate. Myles (still finishing character model) will finally make an appearance for the first time, along with Sun - who is the MC's other best friend.

So, this month I will be focused solely on getting all the characters I need, done and made. I will also be posting lots of pin-ups too - so be on the lookout for that. There will be a special one posted on Christmas Day.  On top of that I have a few commissions to work on for people and some environments needing to be made so I have some work to do. Good news is that after this month, I should have everything I need and I'll be diving deep into making scenes and should have previews every week like I always do. Until then, expect pin-ups, including some cannon ones, and weekly dev updates. I should have Myles and Sun finished this week so I'll reveal what they look like soon. After this month, I'll be able to figure out a timeframe for when v0.2 is coming.

Anyways, that's all I have for this update. Thank you to everyone once again for becoming/being a supporter of Godson. I'm a true 3D artist and have been doing this for years. I sculpt, shade, animate, everything. Your support helps me tremendously and because of that, you guys will always get the best out of me and only top-quality work - nothing less. I'm here to work, I want to work, and I enjoy 3D as it's my passion.
