Hey everyone.

Quick heads up, If you don't wanna read this meandering, go to the 'What does that mean part in the end'

It's been a while that I'm getting some bad reviews, mostly about the early chapters. How they are too boring/too slow/too bland.

At first, I just thought it was the minority of people, and they just didn't enjoy the story/my writing, and that was completely fine.

BUUUUUTTTT

It reached a point where the numbers don't lie. There are way too many people complaining about that for it not to be an actual problem.

If you are wondering, the complaints are mostly about the slow pace, the characters being bland, Hera never showing that she still wanted to be an explorer, and grammar and stuff.

So, I decided to redo the first few chapters, the early 30-40 or so. Basically, the training arc. The core of the story won't change. Neither will the relationships between characters. Mark will still joke around, Hera will still help Alex with the map, Blue is still the self-conscious little murder dumpling.

But some things will be more fleshed out. Hera will have a more active routine, running on a treadmill every day and reading various survival and martial art books. Anaya will be less bitchy for bitchy sake and will have some difference in how she presents herself, but still going to be annoying.

Overall, the main difference will be that now, not only do I have their personalities more flushed out, but I more experience as a writer. After all, we are getting close to 1 year of MAZE. And I believe that early January this year is when I wrote the first draft of the prologue.  Side note, Early next year, we are going to have a wiki for MAZE. I'm going to make 2 versions of this, one for the free readers and another just for patrons.

You guys will get character profiles, explanations on how a few things work, information never seen in the novel like Blue's stats. Items, monsters, spells and even maps, character portraits, and a few surprises. While the free readers get none of the surprises, maps, and none of the extra info. I'll let you guys know more when things get close to being done. If everything works well, We'll have it before February.

What does that mean:

We will have fewer chapters at the beginning of the novel. My goal is to squish the 30-40 chapters to 20-30. With that, the number of chapters will change, and the star/end of book 2/book 1 will change.

This won't affect the regular release schedule. But after it's done I hope to be able to give you extra chapters.

My question is, where do you guys want to see those chapters?

Also, let me know in the comments:

Would you like me to publish the chapters in EPUB/PDF or some other format?

I'm sorry people are complaining about the story being slow. I really enjoyed the slower pace and the character interactions during the training arc.

Thanks, and don't worry. I'm ok with that. It's one ting to get a review pointing the 'bad' parts another is to get one that just says 'it's crap' I'm taking this as an opportunity to grow. And that doesn't mean that flow of the book will change. We will still have the slower slice of life situations. I'm just going to try to improve what we already have
