JENA: Hello Pledgehammers! Here are the options for this month's WrestleTalk Extra!

WWF SummerSlam 1988 (suggested by Marcus A Campbell)

The official tagline for this show was “Where the Mega Powers meet the Mega Bucks”. The inaugural SummerSlam, this show had 10 matches and loads of storyline, including Miss Elizabeth’s famous distraction, the end of Honkey Tonk Man’s historic IC title reign, and the main event of Hogan/Savage v. Ted DiBiase & Andre the Giant.

WWF SummerSlam 1991 (suggested by Chuck Turner)

The one with the uninterrupted wedding! But don’t worry; there were still shenanigans in the following reception. This show, hailing from The Garden featured 9 matches, including Virgil v. Ted DiBiase, The Natural Disasters v. The Bushwhackers, Bret Hart v. Mr. Perfect and more. This is also the show that The Ultimate Warrior threatened to no-show.

WWF SummerSlam 1992 (suggested by Chris Petrou)

The first WWF major PPV to take place outside of North America! Live from Wembley Stadium in London, this show is mostly known for The British Bulldog v. Bret Hart for the IC title. Other featured matches include The Undertaker v. Kamala, Ultimate Warrior v. Randy Savage and Rick Martel v. Shawn Michaels.

WCW Hog Wild 1996 (suggested by Sean Bavuso)

The title was spray-painted! Live from Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, this show had several notable matches, including Rey Misterio Jr. v. Ultimo Dragon, Chris Benoit v. Dean Malenko, Harlem Heat v. The Steiner Bros and the main event of Hollywood Hogan v. The Giant.

WCW New Blood Rising 2000 (suggested by Austin Shrock)

Named after a faction (which dissolved before the PPV), this show was live from Canada. Oh, and Judy Bagwell was on a forklift! Featured matches from this show include Booker T v. Jeff Jarrett, Lance Storm v. Mike Awesome (in a Canadian Rules match) and a worked-shoot match with Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner and Goldberg.

WWE SummerSlam 2003 (suggested by Lottie McCullough)

In only the second ever appearance of the Elimination Chamber, this show was chocked full of big names! Matches included a Fatal 4-Way US title match, Angle v. Lesnar, Kane v. RVD and the already mentioned Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight title, featuring Triple H, Goldberg, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton and Kevin Nash.

WWE SummerSlam 2005 (suggested by Garrett Albright)

Its the Custody of Dominik match, where WWE put a child's future in the result of a wrestling match. This show had several high-profile matches, including Edge v. Matt Hardy, Cena v. Jericho, Batista v. Bradshaw and the main event of Hogan v. Shawn Michaels.

FWA New Frontiers 2009 (suggested by Rob James)

A show from UK-based Frontier Wrestling Alliance, its all about the title qualifiers. Matches on this card include Pac v. Leroy Kincaide, Doug Williams v. Martin Stone, Dave Moralez (Mastiff) v. Bubblegum and a Four Way Elimination match with Jonny Storm v. Jody Fleisch v. Spud (Drake Maverick) v. Mark Haskins.

WWE SummerSlam 2014 (suggested by Dan-O)

In the first SummerSlam to appear on the WWE Network, this show had a variety of match types and stars, including an appearance from the cast of “Pitch Perfect”, Rusev v. Jack Swagger in a Flag match, Paige v. AJ Lee, Seth Rollins v. Dean Ambrose in a Lumberjack match, and main event Brock Lesnar v. John Cena.

WWE SummerSlam 2016 (suggested by Justin Edelheit)

The original jam belt! Live from Brooklyn, NY, this show gave us the first ever Universal Champion, Jericho & Owens v. Enzo & Cass, TV host Jon Stewart and that Randy Orton/Brock Lesnar match.

Please vote for summerslam 1992. Its the 30th anniversary of this monumental show and Ollie and Luke rarely get to review anything pre 98

Sorry but after I read the blurb for New Blood Rising, everything else was just blury words... that show sounds like such a Fn shitshow! Amazing, hope it wins 🤞

Going against the script for 2000 WCW

KiddGaskin98

Heat Wave 98 should have been a option

Would love to hear a review of an original ECW PPV at some point. Living Dangerously ’99, please! SS ‘05 has a few matches that people remember for better or worse - HH vs HBK, Matt vs Edge and the fight for l’il Dominik. Christian and Jericho leaving shortly after were big losses.
