PETE: Hello Pledgehammers!

Just to let you know that because Luke and I overran on the AEW Dynamite podcast yesterday (we were very excited ok), the recording for the DeNuke Mailbag has been pushed back to Tuesday next week - so you can expect to have it with you next Tuesday/Wednesday!

Thanks for your patience. And sorry for talking too much on the AEW podcast.

Hi team denuke. Do you believe that wrestlers will ever create a union or join a existing union?

Misha Sumra

There’s one women-only promotion in the UK - Pro Wrestling EVE - who have negotiated a deal with Equity, the stage performers union over here, so the talent can unionise if they want to.

Although employment rights in the USA are such a horrific shambles that it’d take more than just Unionisation to fix the wrestling industry. But it’d be a good start

It's great when there's something positive to talk about. It really elevates the podcast content.

It's sadly barely a matter of "rights," it's a matter of convincing them of two things: 1) the top earners need to realize that medical coverage is long-term more profitable for them than commission-based work and 2) your boss doesn't have your best interests. America has had ~40 years of conservative propaganda about "corrupt unions" and "lining their pockets with dues" all with the fiction that "your boss cares and doesn't WANT to fire you, so they'll look after you!" You can look at what happened in Alabama with Amazon workers trying to unionize: they stopped themselves. You can look at the WWE lockerroom with what Zelina Vega tried: they stopped themselves. Same thing that happened with Jesse Ventura in the '80s, but you didn't even need a Hogan squealing to management, you just needed enough of them "not wanting to rock the boat."

Just realised this wasn't the question thread. I just read: "mailbag" and submitted. But it's great to see so many people taking this thing seriously.
