Hello Pledge Hammers!

It's time, once again, for everybody to come aboard the POOOOOOOOLL TRAIN! Below are the suggestions made by our $25+ Pledge Hammers for the month of August - so have a read through and then cast your vote.

Remember - everyone's choice is valid. And it's not the end of the world if we do another WWE show.

WWF Summerslam 1992 (suggested by Robert Spence)

It's a PPV held near and dear in the hearts of British wrestling fans (even if the majority of it isn't very good). It's also the show that WWF want you to forget about because the attendance was too good. Watch as 80,000 people saw British Bulldog and Bret Hart go one on one in the main event for the Intercontinental Championship in the main event.

ECW Hardcore Heaven 1997 (suggeseted by Travis Manktelow)

ECW's second ever PPV went down in August 1997, and saw a three-way dance between Shane Douglas, Sabu and Terry Funk for the ECW Championship, while Tommy Dreamer defended the honour of Extreme Championship Wrestling when he took on the WWF's Jerry "The King" Lawler. It's an inter-promotional match years before InVasion!

WCW Road Wild 1998 (suggested by Dave Humphries)

In a very different change of pace, WCW held their annual money losing PPV Road Wild with a main event of Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff against Diamond Dallas Page and Jay Leno. Yes, *that* Jay Leno. It's quite the sight. Meanwhile the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION is in a pointless Battle Royal.

ECW Heat Wave 1998 (suggested by Chris Merryman)

Same month, same year, very different company. While WCW were shaking hands with a talkshow host, ECW held one of my favourite wrestling shows of all-time. Not only that, but it was ECW's most successful show of all-time! Taz takes on Bam Bam Bigelow in a Falls Count Anywhere match for the FTW Championship, Rob Van Dam and Sabu face the devastating team of Hayabusa and Jinsei Shinzaki, and there's an epic six-man tag main event of The Dudley Boyz taking on Tommy Dreamer, Sandman and Spike Dudley.

WCW New Blood Rising 2000 (suggested by ToxicDogma)

A few years later, and WCW is a very different place. The whole place is falling apart, but that didn't stop them hosting New Blood Rising - with Booker T vs. Jeff Jarrett in the main event for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, while Kevin Nash, Goldberg and Scott Steiner have a triple threat, and Lance Storm defends his United States Championship against Mike Awesome under CANADIAN RULES.

WWF Summerslam 2001 (suggested by Barely Average Gaming)

The InVasion is still in full swing! As WWF Champion Steve Austin (representing WCW and ECW) puts his title on the line against the WWF's Kurt Angle. Also on the show, The Rock returns and takes on Booker T for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship!

WWE Summerslam 2002 (suggested by Phil Stopford)

The Brock Lesnar era of WWE begins as he takes on The Rock for the WWE Championship in the main event, while Shawn Michaels returns to the ring for the first time in YEARS to take on his former brother Triple H.

WWE Summerslam 2003 (suggested by #TeamLOL)

It's only the second ever Elimination Chamber match, as Triple H defends his World Heavyweight Championship against Goldberg, Chris Jericho, Kevin Nash, Randy Orton and Shawn Michaels! Also on the show, a newly de-masked Kane takes on his former tag partner Rob Van Dam, and Kurt Angle defends his WWE Championship against Brock Lesnar in a submission match.

WWE Summerslam 2005 (suggested by Damion Wade Wilson Fisk)

It's a once in a lifetime match-up, as Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels collide in a main event. And... what a match it is. Lots of backstage politics, infighting and childish behaviour leads to one of the more memorable Summerslam matches of all-time. Not only that, but Eddy Guerrero and Rey Mysterio have a match with the fate of a child on the line!

WWE Summerslam 2010 (suggested by DAAAAAN!)

WWE were on the precipice of creating a whole new batch of top stars that could have carried the company for a number of years - and then squashed them in one of the most controversial main events in Summerslam history.

WWE Summerslam 2011 (suggested by Justin Edelheit)

Speaking of controversial Summerslam main events, and just a few weeks after leaving the company for good, WWE Champion CM Punk returned to face newly crowned WWE Champion John Cena to crown the Undisputed Champion! And, for some reason, Triple H is involved!

WWE Summerslam 2013 (suggested by Th0mm0)

And the controversial Summerslam main events continue as John Cena defends his WWE Championship against everyone's favourite Daniel Bryan with - again - Triple H as the special guest ref. But remember, The Viper is always lurking. CM Punk faces Brock Lesnar, and Kane and Bray Wyatt clash in a RING OF FIRE.

WWE Summerslam 2014 (suggested by ZanderMania)

And we round off our Summerslam choices with one of the more memorable Summerslam main events, and the match that solidified "The Beast" Brock Lesnar into the wrestler we know him as today. It's quite the sight to behold. Also on the show, Roman Reigns clashes with Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt faces Chris Jericho, and Stephanie McMahon takes on Brie Bella. Yep.

NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn (suggested by Lendell Brenson)

Just one year later, and NXT shot themselves into the stratosphere with the ground-breaking NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. Easily one of the most talked about NXT shows in history, Kevin Owens looks to regain his NXT Championship from Finn Balor in a ladder match, a debuting Samoa Joe takes on Baron Corbin, and Bayley looks to finally become the NXT Women's Champion when she faces "The Boss" Sasha Banks.

ROH Death before Dishonour XIV (suggested by Jonathan Hedman)

And lastly, it's our monthly Ring of Honor suggestion - with a stacked card that really sums up what a great company ROH was in 2016. Adam Cole takes on Jay Lethal for the ROH Championship, Chaos clash with Bullet Club, The Addiction defend their ROH tag titles against LIJ and Hiroshi Tanahashi & Michael Elgin, and Kazuchika Okada faces Dalton Castle.

Summerslam 2005. Dat custody match is alltime

It's hilarious to me that all the people who wanna see older SummerSlams can't be united on one, so we'll likely have TakeOver because the marks who are not marky enough to vote for ROH or New Japan stuff only have one option.

Steveisnotmyname

While I really want a non-WWE show, I think the best option this month is by far Takeover: Brooklyn. Definitely one if the best Takeovers, and I’d love to hear Luke and Oli break it down. I’m sure they’d also really enjoy rewatching it.

Michael Rivera Morales

Not marks but most are WWE fans and Luke said it many times they would love to review more outside WWE stuff but sadly there's no real interest for it.It really proves how small of percentage is us the fans that watch Impact,ROH,NJPW and WWE etc.So we're going to have to settle that WWE ppv's is most likely going to win a poll

Anonymous

That wasn't my intention, especially since I'm one of the marky marks who always votes for ROH and New Japan.

that guy who want to support

Summerslam 02 is one of my favourite shows ever such a great event. BUT! I would also love takeover Brooklyn because (shocking announcement) I've never actually watched the show I was out from the wrestling bubble at the time

Jonathan V Hedman

Death before dishonour is really in today’s eyes somewhat is NXT vs AEW so a vote for this show in the past is really also a vote for the future. Plus Adam Cole (BAY BAY) vs Jay Lethal was just plain awesome.

This has been the hardest poll ever! Doesn't matter who wins it will be great this month

I Got Dibz

Well Brian Zane just put up a review of SS 2005 so it may be best to skip this one for now

wrestletalk

LUKE: It's a pretty tremendous show. Not on the same level of quality as current-day TakeOvers, but the Bayley vs. Sasha match is insanely good.

Jesse Anderson

I don't remember much about SS 2014, but the conquering of John Cena is one of my favorite wrestling moments of all time. I would love to hear you guys' takes on it. ...But at least NXT Brooklyn was my second choice here.

Bryan 'The Monster Among Patreons' Stroman

In all honesty it really depends on the ages and where the fans where born. I'm an old fart that was born at the end of the 70's so the wrestling I watched growing up would be different from others. If you are American and younger, the wrestling you watched was more then likely WWE. I'm probably one of the very few on the net that shed's a tear for the territory days.

Ryan B Badd

for me this was a toss up between takeover and SummerSlam 2013 with the punk/lesnar match . But I went with takeover because as we know NXT has been the better product pretty much since this ppv

#TeamLOL

I pass the baton onto you Lendell Brenson.

Chris Merryman

I'm going to keep putting up ECW shows, eventually one will win!
