Hello Pledge Hammers!

Here it is! Luke and Oli sit down to give their thoughts on Elimination Chamber 2011! Does the feud between Jerry "The King" Lawler and The Miz hold up? Did anyone buy into the idea of CM Punk being the leader of The Nexus? What the heckins was The Corre all about?! And what was going on with that Trish Stratus and Booker T segment? But seriously, the Smackdown Chamber match is great and there is a lot of fun to be had along the way. And as always, there's comments and news from the time from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Bryan Alvarez of Figure Four Weekly and some odd opinions by Wade Keller in the Torch.

Enjoy the show and let us know what you thought of Elimination Chamber 2011 in the comments down below! Thanks for being awesome Pledge Hammers!

LUKE: Yeah sorry this is so late! We talk about it in the show but we had a lot of studio work being done and that delayed the recording for this by a couple of weeks!

Hey guys, currently listening and enjoying the podcast but I gotta pause to correct you on something. Edge didn't defeat Del Rio because it was his retirement match. Neither Edge nor WWE knew that he had to retire until AFTER WM27. Edge deliberately waited till after Maina to get that fateful MRI so that he wouldn't miss Mania. He was even advertised to face Del Rio in a ladder match at Extreme Rules. I'm sure if Edge knew that WM27 would be his last match, then he would have insisted on putting Del Rio over.

What a great review! Very well done Oli and Luke, thank you for making a Monday morning at work fly by! HANDSUPINEXCITEMENT EMOJI!!

Funfact. The Kelly Kelly and McIntyre storyline was planned for Tiffany and Drew who where married at the time. But because of private and backstage problems around Tiffany, Vince went with Kelly Kelly instead. I also adore Broken Dreams i think i did fit Drew very well. Overall a great Extra Ramble. For me it were great memories but you really hated it. Kinda sad but different tastes i guess 😁

LUKE: Pretty sure I saw an interview where Edge says they knew it was his last match. I think you can even see on his face that he knows it's his last time. I could be wrong on that one though. But if the original plan wasn't to drop the belt to Del Rio at Mania, that's probably even worse. That loss really killed his momentum.

Chris Smith

Fair point. But if Edge knew the full extent of his condition he would never have wrestled the match in the first place. I will concede that Edge probably suspected the worst, and that's probably why he knew it would be his last Mania. But he would never have been cleared for Mania if he had the results before then. And yeah, either way the result killed Del Rio.

LUKE: I would like to believe that they knew and let Edge have one final win at Mania. Otherwise it makes the company look incredibly incompetent.

LUKE: I don't think we hated the show. I thought the first two matches were ace! But there was an awful lot of filler and the Raw Chamber was pretty tedious outside of Punk. Miz and Jerry was fun, but in hindsight did not help The Miz at all and he was the one who needed the most help.

Eventually I’ll get to this. I’m behind in my long listen podcasts.

Derek Ostrander

whew! took me a while to get to this one, great "work in the studio and listen" material! Thanks for making the days go by a little faster!

Hey guys, it didn’t take 9 years to get from your opinion on Baron Corbin during this podcast to actually being into Baron Corbin....it barely took 9 months lol

Richaffinito

They knew. He literally retired the next night so unless in one day he got the prognosis and then also a second opinion, they knew before.
