Hello $5+ Pledge Hammers!

It's Royal Rumble season and we're getting jazzed by reviewing what is thought to be one of the best Rumble shows ever - ROYAL RUMBLE 2000! But is it remembered fondly because of the Cactus Jack vs. Triple H street fight, or is the Rumble itself a doozy?

Luke and Oli sit down to answer that question, talk about the Channel 4 deal, a shocking revelation about Wade Keller and Mick Foley, and - yes - the Miss Rumble Bikini Contest. Why did the relationship between Channel 4 and WWF sour, I wonder?

Also, Oli nearly does a swear!

Thank you to Lendell Brenson for voting for Royal Rumble 2000, and thank you to everyone who voted for it!

I cannot express how wild WWF NY was. There was literally 0 security between you and the talent, yes usually they were on stage so there was somewhat of a barrier, but when Trish Stratus was tending bar she was completely alone, I took an awful disposable camera selfie of me laying across the bar while she just politely smiles into what she thinks is the camera, when I met Stephanie, she was just sitting down near the stage alone. When word got out she was there she was instantly surrounded by 20 year old guys (at a time when she was openly called a slut on television, so you can imagine the atmosphere) and masterfully chilled us all out, took photos, and then went to the back and was never seen again. JR just got a table 3 booths over from me once by himself and was mobbed, the Hardys and Dudleys just wandered around the place saying hi to people with no security, surrounded by lunatics. It was insane, and yet I never witnessed anyone getting out of hand. Everyone got close, acted a fool in front of the camera, but no one presumed that they could grab anyone or be touchy. It was this weird polite madness. God i miss that atmosphere.

Hey Luke, the movie Friday starred Ice Cube and Chris Tucker, not Chris Rock.

I love how this show does not take itself to seriously thus making you guys have more fun on the ramble. Thats how WWE should be. Also 30 minutes about boobies is fun :D

Just as a feedback: I tend to simply listen to those reviews and maybe then think about rewatching the show.

LUKE: I was curious how people tend to watch the shows. I know when I was listening to season one of AEPodcast I would rarely watch along with them. I still don't, to be fair.

You know, the review made my curious for some matches (mainly the street fight and the Tables-match) and on the other hand I'm just happy that I don't have to watch other matches :)

It never aspired to anything higher than average. It was the drink prices that were the real robbery though.

Robert Rose

Fun to hear them get worked by the 2x2 wrapped in barbed wire. It was real when they hit Cactus in the shirt and twirled it but then they distract you with the low blow and when they hid it under the table, it was then switched out for a fake one.

Luke Luna Vachon is dead she actually died in August 2010.

I remember watching this and loving all the matches especially the Kurt Angle Taz Match because I am from Philadelphia and went to a bunch of ECW shows. But the best match was the street fight for the championship. It was amazing with Catus Jack wanted him to win so bad.

Hey guys so John Rocker was a pitcher for the Atlanta braves (owned by Ted turner) who around this time made some notoriously racist comments about baseball fans and poc in general. The comments are easy to find on YouTube. After them rocker was generally considered as the biggest racist prick in American sports.
