The first update and installment of Cape Kabu is now ready for download. I was actually able to complete the gallery too!! Go check it out!

Or if you want some more info on new stuff, here it is: We've got six characters in the first update, with seven outfits each! One of them is a secret character who appears a little less frequently than the others... You'll eventually run into him tho. You can unlock everyone's outfits and their nude pics in the gallery. Unlocking is just done by accruing points while you play. The better your rank, the more you get, and there's also bonus point for playing consecutive games. Also, the gallery and stats unlock after the first time you play.

MAC USERS! Some versions of OS simply do not want to cooperate with this program. You will have to download WINE or some other Windows emulator to play it. I am using a game engine to create this and have no control or say in how it will interact with mac stuff. I don't have a mac so tbh I can't help that well with that sort of thing unfortunately.

To play just unpack the zip wherever you want it on your PC and run the 'game' file. IDK how to run stuff on macs but it's probably the normal way you do it on there. When the game is updated with new stuff, it will not overwrite anything, you will still have all your progress and gallery unlocks.

There may still be one minor glitch, tho I've only been able to recreate it once. If you click around a lot and real fast at certain times after the match, it could cause an error. I'm pretty sure I fixed this but I thought I'd mention it just in case. It was a rare glitch that we could only reproduce a few times. I would avoid fast clicking around in general bc if it glitches it will just break the game and you might not get the points you earned. If you're just playing normally the game will function 100% perfectly. Just FYI: There's no reason to ever click around to speed things up bc doing that will not actually increase the speed of anything in any way. It's a casual game, just chill!

Anyway! I hope y'all enjoy the first update! And there'll plenty more to come soon! And over the next few weeks I'll have some other fun Cape art to post up here too. Stay tuned and thank you all for your support 💖

I'm still pretty terrible at it, but at least I got Graham out of his clothes pretty quick :)

WillyBearBeach

Sometimes I'm playing and I'll be like 'damn i didn't program this game to cheat' lmao. I do best when I play really safely.

Arid

Getting a hang of the game now! Just curious, would you consider a nude Willy when the player loses? Would definitely make a loss a bit better!

WillyBearBeach

Thanks for checking it out! Adding pics of Willy when you lose a game is something I'm adding in a future update! TBH I like the idea of games rewarding the player simply for playing, and I tried to include that by rewarding points even if you lose and for playing consecutive games. BUT yeah, we'll have those in a future update ;3

The game feels nice when it feels like it's working correctly but there's no way that the AI doesnt cheat.

a-also thank you for working very hard on this! It *is* real nice just frustrating at times, not meaning to look rude im sorry :x

Might I suggest unlocking Victory screens you've already seen in the gallery? It would shorten the somewhat massive grind quite a bit and remove the disappointment of unlocking what you've already seen. Especially when it comes to beating the secret character :P

WillyBearBeach

I could probably implement that without breaking stuff. I didn't implement that at first bc I wanted there to be a reason to play against characters you already unlocked. A mixed system could still work. I'll check it out and see!

Damie♥

Will updates be content for old characters as well or just add new ones? A mix of both?

Bookshelf

I'm having a consistent glitch. Sometimes, when Graham's dealing, and he has a score of 6, the game stops altogether. No rapid clicking, the game just stops.

Arid

I think this might be a bug, but when the AI beats an initial hand of 9 with a 1 on the parry, they will often gambit which I don't think has any way of winning (besides drawing a zero). I mean it is kinda hard to win and this helps, but may be unintentional?

WillyBearBeach

I agree it has been doing that a lot. I'll be adjusting the AI at the next update and will take this into account 👍

Lumi

Small bugreport on PC! On my 4th match against Brion (I think), during third round on his counter the game froze on card draw. Not a biggie, I started new game and seems to work as intented, but thought to mention!

Lumi

I took a screenshot of the screen just in case but I don't think it has anything specific to do with scores, but in case it happens again, I'll take screens when it freezes. If it turns out to be more common, I can record gameplay while trying to replicate the issue. Oh and also, I do have my mac around in case you need mac testing in future!

Found an AI issue that I have been able to exploit for a couple of easy wins. If you're the Dealer and you get a 0 for your first card, call. For whatever reason, your opponent is very hesitant to actually play a Gambit on this, and will call with whatever they get first. Unless the card they get is 7 or higher, it's almost a guaranteed counter.

WillyBearBeach

Oh oops! It's supposed to draw if you call on a zero so that's a definite oversight on my part! And also why the AI doesn't quite know how to respond lol. I'll note it on my list of touch-ups, thanks!

I may be playing this wrong or misunderstanding, but after the dealer calls and I'm in the parry phase, all my cards are automatically drawn. Even if they called on a 5 and I drew an 8 with two cards left, it will still draw all of my cards, causing me to lose. When the situation is flipped though and I've called as the dealer, the AI gets to decide whether to hit or call for each individual card in their parry phase. Am I missing something?

WillyBearBeach

On the parry phase you should automatically draw cards until you run out of cards and take a strike, or beat the dealer score, and then it will stop and ask if you want to gambit or not. (On the CPU parry phase they say 'hit' between card draws even though drawing cards until running out/beating the dealer score is compulsory in that phase. I may remove this in the next update to prevent confusion there). If it's just drawing all your cards even after beating the score and then you lose, that is a unique glitch I haven't seen or heard about yet. Are you on mac or pc?

Patrigue

I believe I've found a glitch. After beating an opponent, and seeing their nude pin-ups, if I click the bottom of the window where it says "click to continue" it doesn't go to the "play again" page. Instead, cards are drawn again and the game just continues until I give the opponent another strike and beat him again.

*Goes into the "Lost To Graham" bin*

WillyBearBeach

graham destroyed me yesterday with a double strike, ending the game and giving me a D rank!!

Anonymous

One issue that nags at me is getting a strike for an opponent's gambit that doesn't exceed. e.g: If I have 6, and they gambit with a 7 and get 2, they give me a strike.

WillyBearBeach

This could be a glitch! And I'll check it out (doing coding touch-ups today actually!) But also, if it happens again, double check they aren't winning via a special gambit rule. Gambits (and Counters) have a few special rules that even I forget sometimes! A Gambit is won by beating the dealer score, but they are also won by drawing the same card as the last one drawn, or by getting a score total score of zero. Nevertheless I will look over the code to make sure there isn't anything funny happening there! Thanks for mentioning it and for checking it out!
