The demo for WBB: Cape Kabu is now available! The PC and Mac versions are packaged below. I am planning to make a web version that can be played on mobile devices through the Itch app eventually as well. I'll post about it as soon as it's working.

Cape Kabu is a kabufuda & gachapon inspired casual game. It's pretty simple but I'd recommend checking the tutorial for some key details. I wanted to make something chill you can play while hanging or streaming with friends, watching tv or listening to music, or just looking for something relaxing and easygoing.

The game element is the card game, the gacha element is the opponents you face. In the demo you only face against one challenger, John. In the finished game you will face random challengers, and each challenger will have several random outfits (aka skimpy costumes) you can reveal during play, and several victory poses (aka nude pixxx) that are random as well. So even when you play people you've already played, you'll randomly get new art and results!

Soon I will begin updating the game with loads of new content. All patrons will have access to the latest working build with all of the latest content. New content will primarily be new characters and more outfits and victory poses for all characters. New content will likely be added roughly every 3-6 weeks.

Additionally, all patrons will have a chance to get their fursona or OC in the game as a challenger! I plan to take submissions and select finalists, which you guys can then vote on. The winners will appear in the game with their own outfits, victory poses, etc.

There's one small known glitch in the game that only occurs only at certain points and only if you're clicking around like an idiot looking for trouble. So don't do that! Otherwise it will screw up and you'll just have to start over.

That's it for now! I hope you enjoy the demo!! Over the next few weeks I'll be working on wrapping up Notes from the Cape and working on more content for Kabu, and other little things here and there for this Patreon page. So stay tuned! And thank you all for your support! 💕🐻

Is there gonna be a WBB 3?

WillyBearBeach

There's a good chance there will be yeah, but not for a little while. I've been writing stories for the Cape for years, so I want to take a break from it for a bit before doing more. Until then I will make Kabu and still be drawing plenty of pics and little comics of the WBB crew!

I love the game! Is Willy going to have a full CG for defeat in the future? Also, will there be a gallery for opponent outfits/defeat screens, and will the next version be out before the end of this month?\

Arid

If the opponent calls during the "counter" phase with a lower score, is the game supposed to end in a draw?

WillyBearBeach

I probably will implement a gallery but i want to make some more content for it first. I'm still thinking about making defeat images for willy so not sure there. The next version will probably not be out by the end of the month, more likely to be around late October or November. I want lots of content at each update, and I'll b working on other stuff at the same time.

Finally got the hang of it, that was super cute! I'm very much looking forward to the full version and SUPER hoping I get in the game, since that's very much the sort of thing a bottomless-inclined board game tiger would be found doing in a place as peaceful as the Cape.

WillyBearBeach

Thanks! Definitely submit your char once the submissions are open, he's great! I am also thinking of making an IRL set of cards for it for irl game nights :3

Damie♥

If you do end up making Willy Defeat screens, would they be him getting lewd with his opponent or be based on his outfit? (or neither) Also that card sound effect is so satisfying.

WillyBearBeach

The plan atm is that Willy will have a lot of game outfits but only the challengers will have larger type pics. I have some other ideas too but I need to see if I have time for them etc. It will depend on if the project takes off or not too!

that was a fun demo. though i must say I am a bit of an idiot. Took me a bit to get the hang of the game.. shame on me I guess

WillyBearBeach

It was the same for me when learning oicho-kabu and mahjong, etc, they are simple to play but with a few small details that take a few games to remember. Thanks for checking it out!

Will there be Cape Characters we know and love alongside the OCs? (Personally hoping for Graham :3)

WillyBearBeach

There will!! Bit of a spoiler but I am going to include Graham in the first update for the game 😉

Really excited about this (and I feel kinda bad for just now getting around to playing it - my PC died on me and it took me a while to get a new one). And I'm definitely looking forward to getting some game time with Graham and Hussein. :)

Has anyone been able to get this to run on mac? I can get episodes 13 and up of notes from the cape to run fine but not this unfortunately

WillyBearBeach

I wish I could help more with the mac build! I can't tell why it runs on some macs and not others.

WillyBearBeach

I have a web version up and ready! It should work on most browsers: http://www.artdecademonthly.com/kabudemo/

Back again with another question, lol. Does their playstyle in the stats actually affect their AI when playing? Like will there be characters that almost never go for risky hits? If so, I think it would be cute if their playstyle changed a bit as they stripped because they'd be flustered, but I also understand this might be a lot of time investment in coding that isn't as visible on our end, so I'm not suggesting you do that unless it's literally as simple as like, "if total >7, call"

WillyBearBeach

The stats are mostly just a bit of fun lol altho some of it is kinda true! There is variables to how the chars play, it basically amounts to how risky they are willing to be at certain times. And some chars are generally less risky, some are more risky, etc. It's definitely possible to make them more or less risky during play as well. It's smth I'd considered but never thought of how to implement, but now that you post the question and i think abt it, it would be pretty easy. So I probably will! Good suggestion.
