Never saw the TV version (tho I love me some Tim Curry)... the movie was excellent. I don't normally go for horror movies but I got a good vibe from the trailer and the movie really delivered. It worked both as a summer break movie and as a horror show. Everything was creepy and yet still had just enough internal logic that it all made sense at the end.
