Happy late Pride month, here's a gay little watercolor and ink painting. I'm trying to get myself to learn how to do watercolor on actual watercolor paper instead of shitty printer cardstock, but I haven't had a lot of time to doodle outside NDA work recently. I'd also like to get better at painting skin tones and lighting/values in watercolor, as a kid I mostly used alcohol markers to color physical art, and now even though I've switched to paints I still use them a lot like markers... lots of flat color blocks.
The ink in the background is Troublemaker's Milky Ocean, it has an interesting property where the blue and pink elements separate as it dries. It reminds me of gel electrophoresis tests, where smaller molecules travel faster through the agar gel medium. So, maybe the blue in this ink is a faster molecule and travels to the edge of wet patches faster, creating the blue halo? That or it does not absorb as easily into the paper as the pink dye? idk, I'm no chemist.
