Getting a bunch of sketches together for a post about the underground and surface ecology of the ferret planet. The surface doesn't experience seasons (the planet has a negligible axial tilt) and never gets warmer than temperate at the equator, partially thanks their low energy K class star. Surface plants, not having to account for seasonal disruption, grow densely and compete for the long game even in very cold regions.

Underground, geothermal activity and an abundance of life seeking it keep ferret tunnels warm, but the few ferrets indigenous to the surface have adapted to a colder life. Under their warm clothes they have dense dark brown fur, short whiskers, and stubby facial antennae. Tunnelers mostly use the surface for industry that won't fit underground, so surface dwellers often find themselves being pushed out of their ancestral foraging grounds by the same industries they find work at. Ferret groupthink welcomes assimilation but makes life difficult for those who prefer a quiet life and the open sky.

Question are you gonna add more sapient alien species of your universe in the future or not?

Jay Eaton

Nope, scuds were the last edition I felt comfortable adding! With the level of detail I prefer to world-build at, another sapient race would be a lot of work and I have no idea how I'd fit them in the galactic community dynamic. There are a couple of life-bearing planets in RttS without sapients that I should build on at some point, though.
