I was thinking about gnome livestock, and I think I'm definitely giving them two invertebrates: the first is snails, bred for meat, eggs, and shells (useful for cements and building). The second are a kind of large beetle, which I decided after drawing this are going to be descended from cockchafers, because they have a horrible name and sweet baby angel faces.

They eat garden scraps, roots, and leaves that are inedible to gnomes and turn them into delicious fatty meat. The village of Oakfell keeps their flock mostly in the dirt rooms below the oak, though the wing-clipped adult beetles are sometimes brought out into the grasslands to forage... with supervision, to protect from both predators and their own clumsiness.

Have you ever heard of Wanderhome? I think you'd like it. It's a ttrpg where everyone plays as an animal (really, they're all just furries tbh) and the livestock are giant beetles and bees. it's really cute and soft and refreshing, one of my ttrpg groups likes to play it when not all of us can make it to our usual session. It's also got a lot more collaborative storytelling than something like dnd where you just have one dm and everyone else has a pc. In wanderhome, everyone has a character and takes on part of the dm burden. it's really cool!
