Food processing rarely involves heat for scuds, but they still do it in various forms. Watertight bags are a common feature of scud kitchens, used to hold marinades and keep little chunks of food from escaping (perhaps while they are being marinated).

Even outside the water, heat cooking is rare-- scuds mostly use air to dry meats and veg into jerky, or to reduce sauces via evaporation.
