I've been learning actual rocket science trying to build the titular ship from Runaway to the Stars, because I am a madman who Must Attain All Knowledge. The little white and yellow icon is the ship AI, Bip.

Things I still need to change: put the nose RCS (reaction control system) behind the Whipple shield, move the main fuel tanks above the radiators, consider moving the radiators away from the ship's spine (though that would make it look less like a giant Bip head :'0), and consider more about what the inertial dampener would entail for the meat crew.

I'm been trying to start with hard science and only add magic scifi tech where I absolutely need it for the plot. My main conceits are: there are wormhole portals that can send ships to other solar systems (their version of FTL) and ships in a hurry can make it from the planet of interest to the portals (usually in Trojan orbit of the planet of interest) in a week or so. This means my ships have unreasonably powerful thrusters and the G-force within the habitat can get up to 5g, which is bone-breakingly strong. So I added magi-science intertial dampeners to make this condition tolerable to crew, but it has the unfortunate side effect of dampening ALL motion, including blood flow and air thickness, so it's like living in syrup for a week.

The tail end of the habitat module is biased to be a "floor" because while in transit, the acceleration acts as a false gravity. While coasting mid-trip, the space becomes a zero-G environment.

I have a lot more to work on!

"All the Knowledge"!! I have the same problem myself =w= this worldbuilding is beyond cool and just up my alley! All the admiration and love!

it's so enticing, I am CHINHANDS over all the design things, even when I don't comment on it, I promise I am ecstatic
