I like the idea, but sure some people are born that way. There are a few YouTubers out there who have regular videos showing how they do things. Maybe there can be another character who was born without arms?

A couple of thoughts - 1) A group celebrating college graduation - alcohol is involved; she's holding a lit mortar bomb which goes off, destroying her hands and a tourniquet is applied to her upper arms (paracord, zip ties, whatever). By the time she gets to the hospital everything below the tourniquets is dead; amputation. 2) Same setup, but she trips and falls into the campfire; third degree burns on both arms; amputation. 3) Working the family farm, gets her arms caught in a grain auger; amputation. 4) She grabs, directly or indirectly, a downed high voltage wire; she's "lucky" in that she lives and only her arms are fried. 5) She trips and falls, putting both arms through sheet glass; infection sets in; amputation (probably in multiple steps). 6) Osteosarcoma requiring shoulder disarticulation - but the wrong arm is done, so she ends up armless - and wealthy from the malpractice suit.

This is exactly why I jokingly said DON'T give me your ideas xD All of these you said are just so horrifying and way too sad. As I tried to hint, and explained better in the comments here, I tried to go for something in-between cartoony and completely realistic. Not silly-funny, but not too gritty-real either. I dunno though, I'll think about it some more. Thanks!
