Gotta say, I know the guys behind EEAAO did this one but I thought it was lesser known so it surprised that this got such a big vote. Not a complaint though since I’ve been meaning to check this out at some point

Saving this for the weekend and an edible or two...

I always interpreted the end with them showing all the stuff he made to imply that he's just been in woods behind the woman's house the entire time. And a lot of the "journey" they want on was just wandering around back there because he is definitely mentally unwell, but the ending represents his path to acceptance and getting rid of some demons and getting better. But the whole beach and flying across the water, did all of that even really happen? My view is that it's all just a small wooded area in a suburb and a lot of that was in his head.

Erections and farts; the male equivalent of a chick flick.

Literally the last two movies from that list that I'd vote for. I don't dislike them.I just like all 8 other movies more (1 or 2 am more curious to see technically). Swiss Army Man I just saw like 6 months ago, and it was good. I'll just wait to rewatch with you in another 6 months James. Tonight, I'm packing up my new 420 sale equipment and watching a classic from your videos created before I discovered your channel. Monty Python and the Holy Grail calls my name. I need some comedy in my life after moving out of our house of 27 years. Maybe you can do a month of comedy in June to keep it light for the beginning of summer. What do you think, James? Best in Show - Ensemble Comedy I Love you to Death - Dark Comedy Slap Shot - Classic Sports Comedy A Fish Called Wanda - Crime/Trial Comedy Ed Wood - Biographical Dramady The Best of Enemies - Historical Socially Conscious Dramady Hysteria - Period Piece/Comedy Bowfinger - Ensemble Comedy Caddyshack - Pure awesome Slapstick Comedy A League of Their Own - Historical Comedy Heartbreakers - Con Artist Comedy (If that's a thing) There’s 10 good choices that I don’t think you’ve covered (Sorry if I missed one or two if you did cover some of this list) Comedy isn't given enough credit. It's treated as if it is a lower form of filmmaking than drama, and I honestly think that's incredibly snobby. I left Shakespeare comedies off the list because they're kind of an exception to that rule.I'd like to spend a month showing comedy some love. What do you think? [Again, I'm fairly new and moved last month so I apologize if you've done this before. Or if this is an ill mannered faux pas of a suggestion]

I reckon most of us here respect a film that can make you laugh, and there's been some great comedies covered on this channel. I'm also interested in movies that aren't branded as comedies per se but they're up there with some of the best comedies I've seen by virtue of the actors who just chew the scenery to ridiculous levels. Case in point - Chopper (2000). I laughed my head off at Eric Bana in that. Also the whole cast of Glengarry Glen Ross (1992). That's a gold mine for laughs. And pretty much anything with John Malkovich - that guy can reach some truly absurd heights in serious roles.

I remember being high asl watching this with my cousin and just laughing my ass off for some reason, but was also so immersed by what was going on. I personally enjoyed the film

This movie is wonderful, I watched it for the first time very shortly before watching your reaction and it's kind of a wonderful queer romance. It came out in january 2016, shortly after the legalization of gay marriage, and a lot of happiness that Hank gets from this film comes from Manny first calling him beautiful, to the eventual kiss underwater and eventually realizing that Sarah isn't the person he's in love with, he was just infatuated by her happiness - which he finds worthless in comparison to what he feels with Manny. It uses mortality and I find it uses Manny a bit to add to the ridiculousness of the narrative obviously since they enjoy the surreal, but also because a lot of queer people throughout history died before they were able to find their own happiness. It's tragic.

Hey, The Daniels are great filmmakers. And ladies can enjoy boners and farts too!

Kaitlin

He’ll do a suggestion poll once a month so you can suggest movies there. And the results swing back and forth all the time. I’ve got some weeks I skip but I still subscribe because I like the content. Guy’s watched Harold and Maude, and Chungking Express for us nerds so I can sit tight when the stuff I dislike gets selected. It’s all part of the community here. :)

Linda

Yeah, I realize I'm hanging on a little too tight here. I'm gonna step off now and maybe occasionally check his YouTube channel to see if Michael Clayton ever made the cut. It's been real.

If you look up any interviews or articles about this movie, the directors themselves hate fart jokes, dick jokes, and Acapella music. They made this movie specifically using those things that they don't like, to find a way to love the things they hate. Their movies so far are all about embracing stupid, ridiculous and "immature" content and making something more out of it, like a movie about queer self acceptance and connection with those we love. Remember that EEAAO was all about killing with kindness and googly eyes and surrealism

Wut?
