LegalEagle reviewed this movie, it was basically perfectly accurate aside from issues that may stem from special issues only applicable in Alabama.

Many of the early scenes were filmed in my hometown of Madison, GA (most notably, the large white house the boys drive by in the opening credits is walking distance from my parents house, unfortunately, it's pretty run down now) with a large amount filmed in the nearby town of Covington (the Courthouse and the place where Vinny and Lisa drive in and park because of mud in their tires) Always makes me feel vaguely nostalgic and homesick, in a good way. :)
