Hard Boiled is the final statement of a series of films that were insanely innovative and influential, starting with A Better Tomorrow and culminating in Hard Boiled for director John Woo and are five of the best movies ever made. Four out of five of them starring Chow Yun Fat. It is a shame these movies are so hard to find. Up until the mid to late 2000's they were more available, but as of late they have been disappearing from print. Not just that of John Woo but a lot of classic Hong Kong from the 80's and 90's. It is a real shame.

I was in high school around 1995 when one of my classmates decided to show the first action sequence in our humanities class, our teacher being of the opinion that all art is valid (thankfully!) as I was blown away by this and specifically Tequila dual-wielding pistols while running down the stairs. I was able to watch the full movie some time later and has always been amazing to re-watch. While the sub-plot with the flowers and the girlfriend isn't explored much, I do like her character and that she's strong in her own right and doing what has to be done.
