Yay! I've seen this movie around 20x. I know Hitchcock was awful to women, but this movie had some very cool characters. I love that the mother is presumed to be powerful and strong and she admits she's afraid and "weak." I love that Melanie and Annie could be viewed as silly young women who are chasing a charming man, but we start to see that they have real agency and are bold and making choices and bravely defend the children. Annie and Mel could have been enemies, but they actually seem fond of each other. The scientist in the diner is also an intelligent woman who asserts her opinion. I guess you could say all the women were changed by the end and Mitch had to save everyone. Maybe Hitchcock felt all those powerful women were the imbalance that caused nature to become imbalanced... who knows...either way, it was nice they all had a story and an arc. Also...now I cannot unsee that Mitch has Robin Williams energy. The film is great. Loved your reaction.

Gotta get the original Omen on this list this month! 1976 w/ Gregory Peck. Its so good!
